The Senior Associate, Corporate Strategy & Development provides advice, and thought leadership on consulting / M&A / competitive intelligence engagements for internal clients. This job supports engagement management of broad cross-functional internal teams, including conducting interviews with internal clients, forming sophisticated hypotheses, designing and conducting quantitative and qualitative analysis, synthesizing conclusions and insights into recommendations, and executing strategic initiatives.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

  • Supports engagement teams in the identification, understanding and framing of complex business problems and needs.

  • Supports evaluation, advanced planning, analysis, solution development and execution for engagements.

  • Participates in the preparation of executive-level presentations for the Executive Committee and Board members to garner approval for strategic priorities and transactions.

  • Reviews medium to long-term business trends/outlooks, gathering competitive intelligence to contribute to strategic business planning discussions with leadership.

  • Reviews corporate governance, balanced score card performance and participates in the annual business planning cycle.

  • Prioritizes and tracks investments across new product development initiatives to ensure alignment with corporate strategy.

    Required:

    • 5 + years of M&A execution experience in private equity, corporate development, investment banking or any other related role, focused on the financial services industry
    • Experience with corporate strategy principles, financial statement analysis, financial modeling, managerial accounting, corporate finance, and project finance

    Preferred:

    • 7 + years of M&A execution experience in private equity, corporate development, investment banking or any other related role, focused on the financial services industry
    • Prior experience effectively managing relationships with executives, multiple teams, complex processes, critical services, and cross-functional projects
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and ability to be resourceful in complex situations
    • High degree of endurance and flexibility to work through multiple iterations of work and quickly manage changing priorities and diverse subject matters
    • High degree of comfort working in an unstructured environment that requires solving complex, open- ended issues with incomplete data and little direction
    • Experience developing structured and logical presentations, presenting to senior executives, and leading/facilitating multi-party meetings

    The Corporate Development (M&A) team is responsible for creating a comprehensive corporate development strategy and execute M&A, investments, and partnerships. CS&D seeks an experienced M&A professional to join its Corporate Development team as a Senior Associate.

    The Senior Associate will support the implementation of mergers, acquisitions, disposals, joint ventures, outsourcing arrangements and related activities, while working cross-functionally across the entire deal lifecycle including: sourcing and evaluating targets, performing financial/valuation modeling, drafting internal approval materials, coordinating due diligence and conducting negotiations. In addition, the Senior Associate will manage some of the planning, execution, separation, integration and organizational restructuring activities related to post merger initiatives.

    Potential Salary: $188,000.00 USD

    Actual base salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, base salary of internal peers, prior performance, business sector, and geographic location.  In addition to base salary, the competitive compensation package may include, depending on the role, participation in an incentive program linked to performance (for example, annual discretionary incentive programs, non-annual sales incentive plans, or other non-annual incentive plans).
