About the Role

Our Legal, Risk and Compliance function is seeking an experienced and strategic Vice President of Risk to join the Risk and Compliance leadership team. This leader will be responsible for maturing and enhancing Thomson Reuters enterprise risk management, third party risk management policy governance and assurance programs. Location: The role is based in Zug, Switzerland. You will work in a hybrid environment, spending a minimum of three days per week in office.

Areas of responsibility

  • Supporting the business as it transforms towards a new strategic vision of organic and inorganic growth
  • Building strong relationships with senior leadership to further strengthen the Firm's risk management practices, foster culture and drive enterprise framework maturity and adoption
  • Oversight of the implementation of enterprise risk framework, third party risk framework and policy governance framework through risk partnering and risk and control assurance functions
  • Further mature risk governance and reporting used by senior management and the Board to manage risks
  • Contribute to strategic change programs and M&A activity to enable risk-based decision making throughout the deal cycle
  • Build an assurance function to support effective control execution and oversight
  • Establish and grow a diverse team composed of individuals with varying skillsets and experience levels, managing performance while supporting their personal and professional growth

About You

You are a fit for the Vice President of Risk if you possess the following:

Qualification and experience

  • 15+ years of experience working with/in global organizations, advising on, designing, and implementing risk management and control frameworks
  • Deep understanding of technology, business operations and data analytics
  • Experience dealing with internal and external stakeholders to identify compliance requirements and ensure these are built into risk governance processes
  • Proven ability to take initiative and influence within a matrix organization to build strong, productive relationships while motivating and inspiring team and others in the company that may contribute to the vision and strategy
  • History of partnering with technologists and operations functions to effectively identify and mitigate risks, particularly as it relates to technology driven innovation
  • Experience with risk management related to AI and emerging technologies is highly desirable
  • Ability to communicate complex concepts in easy-to-understand terminology
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including extensive experience in authoring and presenting executive-level documentation (e.g., Board memos)
  • Proven ability to coach and develop teams on risk and control best practices, including cross-functional collaboration
