We are hiring a Production Scheduler for our printing plant team in Eagan, Minnesota. As a Production Scheduler, you will be responsible for the daily prioritization of production, capacity and communication of priorities within assigned work centers and value streams. Prioritization must ensure a smooth and cost-efficient flow of operational resources and processes to help meet customer ship dates, revenue and production goals. You will also have extensive responsibilities for communicating with internal customers, leadership and colleagues to achieve objectives. You will be responsible for identifying process improvements within Scheduling and participating in cross-functional projects on our Core Publishing Solutions team. For this role, you would also be eligible for a $2,500 signing bonus upon being in the role for 90 days.

About the Role: In this opportunity as a Production Scheduler, you will be responsible for:

  • Effectively utilizing ERP Systems and professional level Microsoft Excel ability to create and drive a comprehensive schedule for equipment and processes.
  • Selecting the most economical production path for each job based on product make-up, time constraints, equipment capability and capacity. All while balancing 3rd party ship dates and revenue.
  • Scheduling all areas of production and updating ERP with any changes in a timely manner.
  • Analyzing workload demands against capacity at execution to identify issues and recommending options for ensuring deadlines are met.
  • Creating standard and ad hoc reports to support capacity discussions within manufacturing lead time. Monitoring and reprioritizing work as needed to ensure that customer expectations are met.
  • Ensuring that Client Service Team members and all production areas are aware of priority jobs and drive for quick resolution of issues that could prevent the job from meeting the ship date.
  • Partnering with assigned department(s) to determine staffing requirements based on capacity information from ERP.
  • Assisting Operations Managers and Planners to set and control production priorities to provide the highest level of customer satisfaction in meeting promise dates.
  • Actively leading and supporting process improvements within Scheduling to include system utilization, standard work and policy development.
  • Performing additional duties and tasks as assigned.
  • Leading medium/large-scale projects with cross functional teams across organizational boundaries
  • Partner with Account Representatives on balancing competing demands.
  • Offer scenarios to operations for resolving capacity challenges, including overtime.
  • Provide occasional work direction to Planning Department for releasing of work.
  • Advocate for internal and external customers in production decisions.
  • Support change management with stakeholders when pursuing process improvements.

About You:

  • Four-year degree plus 1-2 years' experience in a manufacturing plant, a 2-year degree plus 5-7 years' experience or a H.S. diploma plus 10-12 years' experience.
  • High level of proficiency with ERP or printing/packaging scheduling systems
  • Proficiency with MS Office; strong Excel skills
  • Working knowledge of supply chain management concepts and application of within job-shop manufacturing
  • Proven skills in time management and multi-tasking responsibilities
  • Demonstrated ability to be self-directed and an independent problem solver
  • Ability to expand work hours to meet deadlines and workload fluctuations
  • Additional ERP skills outside of SAP a plus.
  • Experience with Value Stream and Lean manufacturing practices
  • Workflow automation and the ability work with cross functional teams to modify processes.
  • APICS, Greenbelt and/or 6 Sigma certifications a plus
  • Desired software experience: Connex, InSite, Ultimate Impostrip, Enfocus Switch, PrintOS, SAP
  • Strong collaboration problem solving skills and communication skills are critical to this role
  • Candidates must be able to pass a background check and drug test, as applicable for the role.

Thomson Reuters complies with local laws that require upfront disclosure of the expected pay range for a position. The base compensation range varies across locations.For any eligible US locations, unless otherwise noted, the base compensation range for this role is $56,000 - $104,000.This role may also be eligible for an Annual Bonus based on a combination of enterprise and individual performance.Base pay is positioned within the range based on several factors including an individual's knowledge, skills and experience with consideration given to internal equity. Base pay is one part of a comprehensive Total Reward program which also includes flexible and supportive benefits and other wellbeing programs.
