As a Senior Qualitative Research Analyst for The Washington Post's centralized research team, you will conduct primary research and provide insights to help business units throughout the organization understand our core and untapped audiences and make smart business decisions. Working closely with our world-class advertising sales, subscriptions and brand marketing, product, and award-winning newsroom teams, you'll help pave the way for bigger and bolder successes in the future.

- Manage qualitative research projects for clients throughout the organization. Conduct usability testing and in-depth interviews to understand audience mental models, improve user experience, test concepts and spark new ideas. Insights are used to support development of products, platforms and content that appeal to and meet the needs of:
- Our existing core audience of subscribers and/or
- A younger, more diverse audience of untapped news readers
- Actively participate in all phases of the research process by meeting with clients to scope out objectives, recommending the appropriate methodology and developing a research plan, conducting the research, transforming results into actionable insights and recommendations.
- Be in charge of qualitative research process and operations including respondent recruitment, scheduling and incentive disbursement.
- As part of large strategic initiatives, support generating and refining ideas across departments by facilitating creative workshops and brainstorming sessions.
- Help build out the UX process within the Product & Design organization and contribute to speed to market by training product managers and designers on UX research and providing guidance on simple end-user tests. Conduct UX research for more complex projects.
- Collaborate with research team on socializing important team initiatives and key findings/insights throughout The Post organization via research team Slack channel, newsletter or other methods.
- Ensure that all research activities comply with ethical standards and regulations, particularly regarding participant consent and data protection.
- Bachelor's Degree and 5+ years of experience in a research role or equivalent combination of experience and education.
- Expertise in qualitative research methodologies including usability testing, focus groups, interviews, ethnographic research/diary studies, persona creation, and journey mapping.
- Ability to manage and execute all phases of research projects including translating client objectives into research plans, facilitating group sessions/interviewing respondents, and preparing comprehensive reports and presentations that summarize the research findings.
- Ability to interpret complex data and translate it into actionable insights.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with experience presenting to cross-departmental audiences.
- Proficiency with UserTesting or other UX research tools and software.
- Comfort with design and prototyping software like Figma, Protopie & InVision.
- Experience with Dovetail or other UX insights repository software.
- Experience with Qualtrics or other online survey tool.
- Experience with or strong interest in subscriptions or e-commerce products, or digital media and news is desirable but not required.

The salary range for this position is:
85,100.00 - 127,700.00 USD Annual
The actual salary within this range will depend on individual skills, experience, and qualifications as they relate to specific job requirements. This position may be eligible for a bonus or incentive program, and a member of the Talent Acquisition team will discuss bonus payment terms and conditions during the interview process.
