Overview:

Effectively sources corporate brand programs by building relationships with the Agents, Vendors and Buyers. Negotiates prices and determines appropriate allocation of orders based on factory matrix and capacity. Collaborates with management and team to evaluate the appropriate agent/vendor/factory structure for private label programs. Develops applicable time and action calendars for specific programs. This position will be based out of our global headquarters in Framingham, MA with a focus for Sourcing in South America

Job Responsibilities:

  • Sources and negotiates programs that offer best quality, price, delivery, flow, and placement balance through face to face meetings, daily email communication, and conference calls.
  • Collaboratively selects Agents/Vendors/Factories/Countries capable of producing the desired quality within the contracted delivery and at the same time balancing risk.
  • Continuously evaluates the Agent/Vendor/Factory/Country base to ensure it is well balanced. Identifies and recommends change in structure as necessary.
  • Works with the Merchant, Product Development or Buying Teams on specific product categories to establish a realistic Time and Action Calendar. Reviews, updates and communicates calendar as necessary to accommodate for global holidays and events.
  • Understands and applies knowledge of raw materials, currencies, down time opportunities, country capabilities etc. to strategize negotiations and placements.
  • Travels overseas to meet with agents, factories and vendors to build relationships, negotiate as necessary, review current production, assess performance and identify potential opportunities.
  • Ensures factories can meet our requirements. Assists in confirming factories are socially compliant. Arranges home office visits with agents and vendors to explore new opportunities. Collaborates with counterparts to leverage opportunities when possible and communicate on capacity by Factory.
  • Resolves production issues which require a cost concession by working with management, agents, and buyers. Approves all factory/country of origin changes with guidance from management and ensures Letters of Credit are modified accordingly.
  • Works with Buyers and Product Managers during price confirmation to achieve desired quality and value. Assists Product Managers in working with Buyers to resolve issues as needed.
  • Performs special projects as needed.

Job Requirements:

  • Experience sourcing for Footwear or Home Textiles preferred
  • University graduate with minimum 6 years' solid experience in sourcing and production or related field of which at least 2 years' management experience in buying office, agent or well-known importer catering to U.S. Market
  • Managerial experience in assigned category in U.S., Canada, or UK retail market
  • Proven leadership experience in managing staff including on-going performance management, development and empowerment of subordinates from various backgrounds
  • Spanish or Portuguese language preferred
  • Working knowledge of buying office, manufacturing principles, materials, production process, U.S. customs and International logistics and trade with hands-on approach
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with proven record of building relationships
  • Exceptional organization, problem solving, negotiation and time management skills
  • Independent with a passion in products and knowledgeable in latest market trends
  • Strong business acumen and entrepreneurial
  • Willing and able to frequently travel to explore new opportunities

This position has a starting salary range of $90,200 to $115,200 per year
