Role Summary

TJX Europe is the European division of The TJX Companies, Inc., a global off-price retailer listed on the New York Stock Exchange. The division (trading as TK Maxx and HomeSense) currently has operations in the UK, Ireland, Germany, Poland, Austria and the Netherlands and continues to expand its operation.

We are seeking a Senior Attorney (Litigation and Regulatory Counsel) to join our growing Legal Department in Watford, UK, to support the European business.

This position will report to the AVP Legal (Litigation and Regulatory Counsel). The successful candidate will also be a member of TJX's global litigation and regulatory team and will have regular contact with the US-based lawyers in that team.

Key Responsibilities

This is a diverse role, with responsibility for managing, advising and supporting the business on a wide range of contentious and regulatory matters, including intellectual property issues, corporate and social compliance, trade and regulatory compliance, and consumer protection.

The position provides an opportunity to work with talented individuals across our business, ranging from Buying, Product Development and Marketing to Finance, Information Technology and Store Operations.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Extensive number of post-qualification litigation and/or regulatory experience in a top-tier law firm or in-house.
  • Self-motivated and accustomed to operating at a high level in a fast paced and dynamic work environment.
  • Experience dealing with litigation and/or regulatory issues in other European jurisdictions.
  • Track record of providing legal advice that is clear, commercial and practical.
  • Comfortable managing and prioritising multiple matters simultaneously.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex legal concepts to a non-legal audience.
  • Capable of building and maintaining a network of effective working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders at all levels of seniority.
