As a Supervisor for a team of Specialists you will have a key role in the Operations group managing and coordinating the workload of a team focused on process improvements and technology transfer.

With a proven ability to manage a team, you will foster an open culture of inclusion, cooperation and communication both within the team and across the wider business. You will be responsible for Supporting your team in their personal and professional development, providing coaching and mentoring to help them achieve their goals.

You will set objectives for the team that align to business strategy and department objectives, ensuring that work is delivered within agreed timescales and meeting the Quality Management System (QMS) and Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) requirements.

A Day in the Life:

  • Supervise a team of 6 Specialists, covering all aspects of line management: training and development, goal setting, recruitment etc
  • Regularly review the team's resource requirements, identify resource constraints and resolve through planning for additional capacity or prioritisation of work.
  • Identify potential projects to improve efficiency, write and support project proposals
  • Prioritise, plan and lead projects
  • Represent Operations at higher level meetings, updating on work progress and timescales
  • Own and drive CAPAs and non-conformances ensuring effective completion and implementation of solutions within the required timeframe
  • Act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) across a large number of processes
  • Plan and roll out training of new and updated procedures to a large audience, ensuring understanding and competency requirements are met
  • Take ownership of decisions that impact the whole team and department objectives

Keys To Success:

Education

  • A relevant degree (Scientific/Manufacturing/Project Management) or equivalent relevant previous experience

Experience

  • At least 4 years working in a manufacturing or supply chain role with experience of owning and leading projects.
  • Previous supervisory or line management experience
  • Strong leadership and team building skills
  • Ability to challenge and influence opinions based on specialist knowledge
  • Previous experience of working within QMS and EHS regulations

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Good understanding of general scientific practices, principles and concepts of diagnostic assay manufacturing
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the likely impact on the product and patient of not following procedure
  • Knowledge of the principles of continuous improvement and lean manufacturing
  • Strong understanding of the QMS and EHS regulations
  • Ability to influence and communicate at all levels in the organisation
  • Ability to work autonomously, with a positive outlook, work well under stress and has a high energy level
  • Proven ability to manage, mentor and develop a team

Physical Requirements / Work Environment

  • Role is office based with a minimal requirement to travel
  • Potential for 1 day per week hybrid working
