The Director, Global Engineering will be a member of the Global Engineering group. This position leads a team that supports all Pharma Services Group (PSG) manufacturing sites globally. This includes all product modalities (API, OSD, Biologics, Viral Vector, Cell Therapy, Drug Product).

This leadership role will partner with commercial operations, business and site leaders, technical teams, finance and customers to develop engineering strategies to support new business and capacity expansion opportunities globally. This position combines a deep process engineering understanding with project management, global collaboration and influencing skills.

This role may also support mergers and acquisitions by leading technical assessments of facilities for strategic investment. Responsibility for management of architectural, engineering and construction firms.

What will you do?

  • Develop and present a strategic vision to executive management for major Capital investments across PSG
  • Lead the global engineering team in providing capacity expansion analysis, conceptual design, and preliminary engineering (BOD) development, building project execution plans (resource planning, procurement planning, construction phasing options, cashflow planning)
  • Lead the development of capital project scope and objectives. This is in support of the business strategy concerning clients and partners and oversee total project delivery from concept to validation/commissioning and startup process
  • Oversee the development and maintenance of a global construction database for the benchmarking of PSG projects, to include with regards to schedule, cost, and resources
  • Manage the implementation of strategic master-planning lead (site master plan development). Partner with local site leadership teams to develop executable 5-year capital plans, space planning, infrastructure (end-of-life replacement), manufacturing capacity, office, lab, warehousing, sustainability
  • Build and maintain relationships with business leadership, site leadership and technical SMEs at various PSG sites
  • Promote a safety-first culture through use of design and construction safety standards, leading HAZOP reviews and partnering with EHS

Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering (preferred Chemical or Mechanical), EIT/PE desired
  • 10+' experience with large scale pharmaceutical projects, especially with Manufacturing, Laboratories, and/or Pilot Plant facilities. Additionally, 10+ years of demonstrated ability in delivering life science capital projects
  • Experience leading projects > $100 million
  • Experience with evaluation and design of process equipment and manufacturing processes, project cost estimation, and scheduling
  • Expertise in pharmaceutical Engineering Project Management. Validated experience in leading a portfolio of capital projects with emphasis on GMP manufacturing platforms (Drug Substance, Drug Product, and Advanced Therapies)

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Experience in negotiation and management of contracts and agreements with engineering contractors, vendors, regulatory and government agencies
  • Experience in change event analysis and estimating, and technical transfer of technology and concepts
  • Demonstrated success in partner management and leading multi-disciplinary and multi-functional teams
  • Excellent communicator, including written, oral, and presentation-giving skills.
  • Ability to travel up to 25% (domestically and globally) to various PSG facilities.
