Location/Division Specific Information

The position supports the Life Sciences Solutions Group and is based in Carlsbad, CA.

How you will make an impact:

As Sr. Manager- Group Accounting, you will be responsible for compliance with the Company's accounting policies while also supporting various group accounting functions. This is an opportunity to work cross-functionally and partner with the business to build scalable processes and enable growth for Thermo Fisher Scientific.

What you will do:

  • Supporting Group Controllership functions, including remediation of internal control deficiencies
  • Applying and implementing Company's AR, credit and revenue policy
  • Technical accounting research of complex issues to ensure accurate accounting treatment
  • Support adherence to important metrics especially around AR, bad debt and DSO
  • Support maintenance of complete and accurate standard operating procedures and SOX related internal control documentation and AAM
  • Ensure that global accounting functions are being performed as stated in company procedures, financial close schedule, and in accordance with US GAAP and SOX
  • Coordination with external and internal auditors on audits and quarterly reviews
  • Identify and drive initiatives for continuous process improvement

How you will get here:

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or Business
  • Advanced Qualification Preferred (CPA)

Experience

  • 9+ years of dynamic accounting experience with at least 5 years of management experience; prior experience with shared services is highly desired
  • Proven understanding of U.S. GAAP with demonstrated advanced accounting and technical skills
  • Experience with JDE E1 and Hyperion Financial Management preferred

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills and knows how to influence without authority.
  • Strong written communication skills, along with clear and concise verbal skills, are required.
  • Lead multiple assignments, has good judgment, and prioritizes projects and time efficiently
  • Continuous improvement mindset with a successful track record of optimizing processes
  • Ability to thrive in a large, matrixed, international organization and have the ability to work cross-functionally with individuals and teams

Compensation and Benefits
The salary range estimated for this position based in California is $130,000.00-$194,950.00.

This position may also be eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and/or individual performance results in accordance with company policy. We offer a comprehensive Total Rewards package that our U.S. colleagues and their families can count on, which includes:
