Position Summary:

Uncover an outstanding opportunity to grow professionally as an Engineer, Supplier Quality III at Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc. This role involves connecting Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality, Purchasing, and logistics. You will take charge of supplier identification and selection, assess supplier quality systems, and lead overall supplier quality to assist Thermo Fisher's materials cost reduction plan. By using the Six Step Sourcing Process, you will collaborate with internal teams and external partners to successfully implement business objectives, supporting our China Manufacturing Operations.

Essential Job Functions and Accountabilities:

  • Lead the process of qualifying and selecting appropriate suppliers by assessing their quality systems and process controls.
  • Define and implement supplier outgoing and Thermo incoming acceptance requirements and processes.
  • Conduct ongoing supplier evaluations to ensure and exceed company requirements for parts and product quality.
  • Maintain the supplier quality scorecard, including data retrieval, analysis, reporting, and follow-up on corrective and preventive actions.
  • Collaborate with various teams to develop and implement programs for improving supplier quality.
  • Manage non-conforming materials disposition processes to minimize potential exposure.
  • Stay informed on international quality system standards affecting purchased commodities.
  • Participate in the development and negotiation of purchase agreements in line with company policies and procedures.
  • Optimize supply chain results through effective collaboration with internal and external partners.
  • Train department personnel as needed.
  • Ensure suppliers establish robust manufacturing processes.
  • Monitor and continuously improve supplier quality performance through training and workshops.
  • Provide immediate containment, accurate controls, and root cause analysis to drive continuous improvement at supplier sites.
  • Act as a liaison between Purchasing, Engineering, Manufacturing, and suppliers to resolve quality issues and provide technical support.

Other Job Requirements:

  • Up to 40% travel may be required to transact business at supplier locations.

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in handling supplier quality for sheet metal, machining, cable harness, motor, and other e-assembly parts.
  • ISO 9001 certified auditor.
  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks simultaneously, with a critical approach and a bias for action.
  • Proven track record in improving supplier quality.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Mandarin Chinese and English.

Nice to have Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Knowledge in process control: 6 sigma, FEMA, CP/CPK, control plan, etc.
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes and critical factors for assigned responsibilities.
  • Good analytical skills for identifying, analyzing, and resolving problems.
  • Experience in World Class supply chain methodologies and Continuous Improvement processes.
  • Strong social skills with the ability to effectively interact within the organization.
  • Potential for learning and growth.
