Job Description

As the NPI Sourcing Manager at Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc., you will play a pivotal role in leading the sourcing and procurement of materials, parts, components, and assemblies. Your contributions will provide our company with a competitive edge through lower material costs, top-quality products, shorter manufacturing cycle-time, and timely delivery to our valued customers.

1. Key Responsibility

  • Lead in sourcing and procuring of materials, parts, components, and assemblies to provide the company with a competitive edge
  • Support new product/transfer programs by coordinating procurement activities until the first production run
  • Provide technical sourcing support to R&D to meet aggressive Cost of Goods Sold (CoGS) targets and/or new suppliers/materials for development
  • Drive the release of materials in a timely manner with R&D and project core teams to meet production build dates
  • Support R&D sourcing efforts by identifying and purchasing components during prototype builds
  • Lead and drive sourcing activities to achieve cost-saving targets or supply risk mitigation in NPI programs
  • Investigate new or alternate sources of supply to support new product development, cost reduction requirements, and/or supplier performance issues
  • Advocate the category strategies within the business during the product development phase

2. Qualification

  • Proven experience in sourcing and procurement, preferably in a similar role
  • Exceptional negotiation and communication skills
  • Flawless attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams to determine optimal sourcing strategies
  • Ability to successfully implement sourcing initiatives and drive continuous improvement
  • World-class project management skills with a focus on meeting deadlines
  • Ability to drive for results in an ambiguous and fast paced environment
