Discover Impactful Work:
Join our global Advanced Technology team and contribute to the development of our next generation Transmission Electron Microscopes (TEMs). Drive novel electron optical concepts based on solid scientific research, demonstrate technology feasibility, and support R&D in product development. Be part of our mission to enable groundbreaking research for our customers. This is a two-year postdoc position in collaboration with the Weizmann Institute of Science (Israel) on laser-based devices for TEM.
A day in the Life:
- Work at our collaboration partner in Israel for 50% of your time on laser-based TEM devices.
- Facilitate knowledge transfer from an academic setting to industry, and set up- and troubleshoot early prototypes at Thermo Fisher Eindhoven.
- Independent operation and troubleshooting of laser-based devices for TEM in Eindhoven.
Keys to Success:
Education:
- A PhD in Applied Physics, or similar, preferable in the field of laser physics.
Knowledge, skills, abilities:
- Understanding of theoretical and practical aspects of TEM operation.
- Hands-on experience with independently setting up experiments with lasers and optical systems, preferably using optical cavities and frequency locking techniques.
- Motivated to work in both an industry and academia setting, bridging the gap between academic proof-of-principle work and industrial prototype development.
- Affinity with instrumentation and method development.
- Great team member with good natural interpersonal communications and leadership skills is required due to the high degree of interaction and teamwork.
- Fluent in English.
Physical Requirements / Work Environment :
You will be based for 50% of your time in Israel (Revohot) and 50% in our Eindhoven office (Netherlands).
