Job Description

We are currently seeking a highly motivated Scientists II with a molecular biology background to work within the newly established R&D Applications Group in Vilnius within the Molecular Biology business unit. The Scientist, working with Group Leader and Product Management, will focus on investigating, optimizing, and developing the new applications and technologies for molecular biology products which involve molecular cloning, nucleic acids analysis, reverse transcription and/or end-point PCR.

The Scientist of the R&D Applications Group will focus on development of new applications to improve our customers' experience by developing practical recommendations of our products' usage in customers workflows and converting those recommendations into a customer-facing information. Also, the position will be interacting with customers and commercial teams to assist with technical queries when required and to identify workflows where additional recommendations to apply our products are needed. Good communication practiced through verbal, written and presentation skills is required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for experiment planning and execution for various scientific developments such as complex workflows or atypical types of substrates used by customers, leading the projects or its parts
  • Innovating and providing technical justification for novel concepts and approaches
  • Performing fundamental literature and patent searches to identify new and emerging application areas for our products
  • Interacting with customers and commercial partners to identify workflows where additional recommendations for our products are required
  • Collaborating with the product management teams to understand and respond to how our competitors are demonstrating applications in the market
  • Summarizing scientific results in a clear, concise, and accurate manner to prepare application notes and presentations to deliver research internally and externally.
  • Assisting with the technical support and troubleshooting activities in the R&D group, to customers and commercial teams
  • Evaluating, purchasing, and operating various process development and analytical equipment
  • Providing guidance and training for new personnel.
  • Maintaining strong adherence to regulatory compliance and safety requirements (ISO13485 standards, H&S policies and other applicable regulations).

Required Qualifications:

  • MS degree in Science (biochemistry, molecular biology or related field)
  • 1+ years' experience in the lab
  • Knowledge and experience in a broad range of molecular biology techniques, including gene engineering, molecular cloning, reverse transcription, qPCR/PCR
  • Knowledge and experience in laboratory procedures and use of equipment
  • Experience in analyses of experimental data; knowledge in statistical methods is an advantage
  • Ability to design, document, perform and communicate research plans, experiment results, analysis, and unresolved problems
  • Maintain an accurate and detail documentation of experiments using electronic notebooks
  • Experience in supervising project activities and responsibilities (evaluation and tracking of the schedule, scope, cost and risks) is an advantage
  • Good verbal and written communication and presentation skills in English
  • Excellent collaboration skills, working effectively in a team environment
  • High self-motivation with the ability to prioritize and balance multiple projects simultaneously, and work efficiently to be able to satisfy specific timelines and results
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and data analysis software (e.g. GraphPad Prism, JMP, etc.)
  • Ability to travel 5-15% annually globally
  • Demonstrates effective written and oral communication skills through formal and informal discussions with peers, team, colleagues, supervisor, and upper management

Compensation and Benefits
The salary range estimated for this position based in Lithuania is €26 200,00-€39 250,00.
