Position Overview:
The Program manager (m/f/d, Senior manager, program management office) for the ImmunoDiagnostics Division (IDD) is responsible for leading a program within our Autoimmunity business in Freiburg, Germany.
As Program manager (m/f/d), you will lead one of our key strategic initiatives in ImmunoDiagnostics. The role requires to communicate status, risks, and issues effectively, and facilitate collaboration and consensus. You will also utilize resource management and risk mitigation expertise to ensure optimal resource utilization, identify potential risks, and develop strategies for mitigation while tracking program progress against objectives and KPIs. It is key to employ strategic planning and reporting skills to prepare and present regular status reports, escalate issues through the Steering Committee, and build strategic recommendations, ensuring deliverable quality and managing changes in scope, schedule, and resources. Additionally, you will Lead and mentor project managers and teams with strong leadership and organizational alignment skills, ensuring continuous improvement in program execution and compliance with IVDR and company documentation standards.
This role will be office-based at our Freiburg site in Germany, with flexibility to work from home one day per week. Some international travel may be required (up to 15% per annum max), including overnight stays. The role will directly report into the Sr Director, Head of PMO, in Uppsala in Sweden.
A Day in the Life:
- Manage a program in our Autoimmunity business
- Engage with key stakeholders, communicate program status, risks and issues to stakeholders. Facilitate collaboration and consensus among stakeholders
- Ensure optimal utilization of resources and address any resource constraints
- Identify potential risks and issues across the program
- Develop risk mitigation strategies
- Track program progress against objectives and key performance indicators (KPIs)
- Prepare and present regular status reports to senior management and stakeholders, escalating issues, deviations and decisions in a timely manner through the Steering Committee
- Build program strategy, scenarios & priorities recommendations
- Ensure the quality of deliverables across projects
- Manage changes to program scope, schedule, and resources
- Communicate changes and their impact to stakeholders
- Ensures organisational alignment regarding the decisions and goals across the Thermo Fisher Scientific organisation.
- Leads and influences multiple functions to deliver on time and on budget
- Provides strategic recommendations for critical decisions
- Work with continuous improvements within the scope of the Program and its execution
- Ensures continuous alignment with divisional goals and strategic objectives
- Track and measure the benefits and outcomes of the program
- Assure program documentation is adequate according to our routines and in compliance with regulations
- Lead and mentor project managers and teams
- A degree in a scientific discipline (life sciences, biochemistry, biotechnology) or engineering, a master's degree or equivalent required
- At least 10 years' relevant project/program management, technical and leadership experience.
- Skilled in collaborating with multiple functions and communicating with senior management in a matrix environment to drive the success of cross-functional initiatives
- Strong communication skills as well as analytical, project management and planning skills
- Ability to communicate at executive level and senior leadership
- Previous program management experience/expertise and an energizing leadership style to inspire a cross-business team to deliver on complex projects/programs within schedule and on budget
- High business acumen, a strategic mindset and customer focus
- Ability to work in a highly matrixed, cross-functional organizational structure
- Ability to work comfortably with incomplete information and dealing with ambiguity
- Able to prioritize and manage multiple initiatives simultaneously
- Strong leadership with capability to communicate with, motivate, coach and develop project team members
- Experience working with various levels of the organization including executive leadership, peers and junior team members
- Team player. Strong interpersonal skills, team orientation and communication skills in English language (both written and verbal)
