The Procurement/Sourcing Specialist III helps develop and implement long-term strategies to improve quality, cycle time, technology, and cost for the Division. They collaborate with divisional operations leadership to implement the Procurement vision.

What will you do:

Scale of Responsibilities

  • Lead supplier relationships and handle customer concerns regarding materials and services for the Drug Products Division in the Pharma Services Group.
  • Required to identify risk, reduce cost, and implement new sources of material and services to minimize financial and operational risk to the business.
  • Participate in negotiations and projects to implement proactive procurement philosophies, strategies, policies, and procedures for successful integration into multiple business plans across various sites.
  • Responsible for identifying, negotiating, and implementing cost savings initiatives working with cross-functional teams.

Technical Responsibilities

  • Prepares data and analyzes cost trends, external and internal key performance metrics, and proposing process improvement and the generation or management of key reports, metrics, and projects.
  • Collects supplier (technical) capability requirements for current and future product portfolio as input for supplier sourcing opportunities.
  • Support the improvement and implementation of common processes, standardized work, use of tools and technologies.
  • Influence PDS and Commercial partners earlier in New Product Introduction process, build product pipeline, support product platforming.
  • Consolidates, analyzes and reports on divisional procurement metrics for business reviews.

Leadership Responsibilities

  • Delivers on key objectives (Annual Operating Plan - AOP), delivery, quality, service, cost, innovation, and growth commitments for Division Procurement.
  • Partners with Category Managers, Business Partners, Engineering to deliver annual value improvements and drives competitive advantage.
  • Collaborates with Category Leads to align on preferred suppliers and facilitate rollout to the site for both indirect and direct materials.
  • Engages with supplier leadership to support Thermo Fisher objectives related to sustainability, quality, cost, innovation, growth and compliance.

How will you get here?

Education/Experience

  • Minimum High School Diploma
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Materials Management or Business preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years of purchasing/procurement or supply chain experience in a manufacturing or pharmaceutical environment.
  • ERP system experience (SAP, Oracle, Ariba, etc.).

  • High level of proficiency with core Procurement skills (financials, sourcing).
  • Strong influencing skills and the ability to see issues from multiple viewpoints and understand differing needs of colleagues.
  • Significant business insight and shown team building skills.
  • Proven flexibility and willingness to respond to changes in the external environment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with ability to authoritatively present sophisticated information.
  • Results oriented, metrics driven leader with a root cause, permanent fix approach, continuous improvement approach.
  • Proven understanding of operations.
  • Strong analytical skills and process focus.
  • Strong leadership, collaborative skills, and unquestioned integrity and trust.
  • Excellent influence skills to impact change with peer roles and operations leaders throughout the division.
