A day in the Life:

  • Manufacturing Support

    • Provide manufacturing support to internal production, contract manufacturers, and external suppliers to resolve technical issues occurred in production process of electro-mechanical assemblies and products.
    • Create fixtures, jigs, test stations, calibration/programming/test protocols, work instructions, ERP BOMs, ERP Routings, device history records, and other documentation. Provide manufacturing related training to engineers and technicians.
    • Write, review, and approve Engineering Change Notifications (ECNs), Product Release forms, sourcing changes, part and other items as advised by functional procedures.
    • Support Nonconformance, CAPA, customer complaint investigation, corrective action plan, implementation and effectiveness check.
  • Lead Continuous Improvement Projects

    • Collaborate with the Quality, PPI and other teams to find opportunities for improving yields, handle equipment calibration and reducing waste within the value stream and at suppliers.
    • Use Lean tools and Kaizen tools such as 5S, Value Stream Mapping, Standard Work, and poke-yoke, to improve product quality and enhance productivity.
    • Develop automation and fixtures to reduce product assembly labor and improve employee safety. Generate and update engineering drawings, schematics and diagrams.
    • Perform time studies to establish baseline data to drive improvements and measure successes.
  • Lead New Product Introduction Projects

    • Lead design transfer to release product and new design from engineering to production, support initial production build to the agreed upon schedule.
    • Act as the operations liaison in concurrent engineering teams to ensure DFM/DFT needs are communicated and met.
    • Set up and validate the manufacturing and test process for new products.
    • Define manufacturing process layout, floor plan for work cells, equipment, machinery, and tools.

Keys to Success:

Education

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or similar required.

Experience

  • 5+ years experience in an engineering role.
  • Experience with 3D CAD modeling, such as: SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
  • Understanding of Lean manufacturing concepts and practices.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Self-motivated with strong multitasking abilities.
  • Team oriented with effective communication skills.
  • Excellent analytical and organizational capabilities.
  • Proficient in mechanical and electrical problem-solving using calipers, probes, and other instruments.
  • Knowledge of ERP systems and product BOM strategy; experience with Mapics, XA, or Citrix is a plus.

Physical Requirements / Work Environment

  • May occasionally lift or move products and supplies, up to 20 pounds.
  • Domestic or international travel may be required.
