As an Engineering Manager at Thermo Fisher Scientific, you will have the unique opportunity to lead and mentor our Process and Controls engineering team, setting the stage for exceptional success. Working closely with the Senior Manager, Engineering and Facilities, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that our engineering department meets the needs of our business flawlessly.

Preferred education & experience

  • A Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent experience will provide you with the vital foundation for success in this role.
  • Experience in engineering management, particularly within a GMP manufacturing environment, will ensure your ability to thrive in this position.
  • Your proven experience in developing and mentoring engineering staff will be highly valued in our organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Effectively run the engineering functions at our Cramlington manufacturing facility to ensure product quality and regulatory compliance, showcasing your world-class expertise.
  • Apply your technical skills to carry out equipment and process qualifications as per cGMP standards, while prioritising accurate completion and effective communication with relevant departments.
  • Demonstrate your skills in equipment qualification management by designing and reviewing associated technical documents.
  • Apply your world class problem-solving skills to resolve manufacturing equipment breakdowns, effectively communicating the impact and timelines to relevant staff members.
  • Lead crucial capital engineering initiatives on-site, showcasing your ambition and determination.
  • Actively participate in our site's Practical Process Improvement (PPI) lean activities, contributing to our culture of continuous improvement.
  • Minimize production downtime by effectively coordinating engineering risks across departments, with a particular focus on the impact to operations.
  • Maintain up-to-date technical documents, procedures, and standards guidelines in accordance with statutory requirements and company policy, ensuring a flawless operation.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives within the function, successfully implementing system and process improvements across the site.
  • Serve as a role model leader, coach, and mentor to inspire and develop our engineering team.
  • Be open to taking on any other tasks as deemed appropriate by the Site leader or Senior Engineering Manager, contributing to our ambitious goals.
