Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc. is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Tool Room Technician to join our exceptional team in Mebane. As a Tool Room Technician, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the flawless operation of our manufacturing processes, contributing to our world-class products that make a positive impact on a global scale. A Day in the Life:

  • Supervise work orders to ensure efficient operations in the Tool Room.
  • Track and manage the red zone to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Use hand tools with accuracy and efficiency.
  • Provide support to the process team for seamless production.
  • Repair and maintain tools to ensure optimal performance.
  • Clean tools thoroughly before sending them to the machine.
  • Perform preventive maintenance routines and maintain accurate documentation.
  • Operate tool shop equipment with precision and expertise.
  • Implement and maintain 5S practices in the tool room and tool shop.
  • Organize and store tools in racks for easy accessibility.

Keys to Success:

Education and Experience

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 2+ Years of Injection Molding Toolroom preventive maintenance experience.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting safety rules, blueprints, and procedure manuals.
  • Strong mathematical skills for calculations and measurements.
  • Excellent problem-solving and reasoning abilities.
  • Strong emphasis on collaboration, achieving outcomes, and demonstrating leadership abilities.

Skills and Knowledge

  • Proficiency in multi-cavities tools, hot runner systems.
  • The ability to disassemble, clean, inspect, measure, reassemble different injection molding tools.
