Job Description

Position: HR Business Partner

Reports To: HR Sr. Director, Korea

Department: Human Resources

Location: Giheung (major location, 2-3 days a week) & Suseo, Seoul

How Will You Make an Impact?

The Sr. HR Business Partner will partner with the leaders and managers of Materials and Structural Analysis Division (MSD), the biggest single division of Thermo Fisher Scientific in Korea which supplies innovative solutions for electron microscopy and microanalysis enabling our customers to push the boundaries of productivity and innovation, and those of Instrument and Enterprise Services Division (IES) which provides engineering services for our industry-leading analytical instruments located in Suseo, Seoul.

What will you do?

The successful candidate will hold the following accountabilities

  • Participate in crafting people strategy for the partnering divisions including building efficient organizational structure by working with the Country HR Director and the business leaders
  • Develop HR solutions and workforce plans in line with strategic objectives within the businesses, liaising with regional business HRs of the divisions in Asia Pacific and Japan
  • Boost the organization's commercial and leadership capacity by encouraging the growth and development of individual leaders
  • Support leaders in navigating intricate leadership and people concerns
  • Initiate and lead change initiatives, within and outside the businesses
  • Influence leaders to embed critical and/or global programs to drive employee engagement and performance
  • Guide leaders and managers on key HR processes such as Performance Management and Development, Annual Total Compensation Planning, HR Review (Talent Review), off-cycle promotion, hiring, and labor management
  • Participate in screening candidates including interviews for people manager positions and be a gatekeeper to keep Quality in hiring
  • Lead and/or participate in country's and regional HR projects collaborating with HRBPs, HR CoEs, and Colleagues Services

How will you get here?

  • 9-13 years of broad HR experience across all key subject areas including a minimum of 3 years in HRBP roles
  • Must possess good verbal and written English and Korean communication skills plus demonstrate strong leadership capabilities
  • Experience in operating in a fast-paced, hyper-growth environment
  • Experience working in multinational companies with the ability to lead and get results in a matrixed management operating environment
  • Experience in the hardware instrument or equipment businesses with a group of service engineers
  • Track record in initiating and completing sophisticated change initiatives and building organizational capability
  • Track record partnering with senior leaders to craft and complete their business strategy
  • Ability to understand, analyze, and assimilate sophisticated people issues, draw accurate conclusions, and formulate clear strategies and policies
  • Ability to embrace and model the Thermo Fisher Scientific values of Integrity, Intensity, Innovation, and Involvement
