Division: Chemical Analysis Divion, provides critical on-site instrument services at customer locations. Our colleagues are passionate about improving customer experience and service operations efficiency.

Job Title: Resident Field Service Engineer Product Inspection

Within our EMEA organization we are looking for an experienced and motivated Field Service Engineer for the product line Product Inspection with the prime responsibility to work on production machines in food and pharmaceutical factories, on products such as metal detectors, checkweighers, X-ray detection systems, and others.

How you will make an impact:

You will join the Product Inspection Field Services organization, an inclusive and diverse international team. As the primary service interface as engineer, you will be supporting our customers using our products, ensuring priority responses and problem resolution to increase customer uptime.

The prime focus of the role is Installation, Preventive Maintenance, and Instrument repair (when needed) and have direct interaction with our customer.

What will you do:

  • Represent our company in a positive, professional manner in all dealing with Thermo Fisher Scientific customers, both external and internal.
  • Install our products from our Product Inspection Product line, demonstrate instrument specification and instruct customers on use and maintenance.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and qualifications on customer instruments and help to improve instrument uptime and availability.
  • Assess and resolve hardware and software malfunctions by means of diagnostic skills, tools, and customer guidance.
  • Educate customers on instrument operation, maintenance procedures, and processes.
  • Submit service reports and documentation to meet internal and external specifications.
  • Always ensure the highest professional relationship with our customer to achieve customer loyalty and raise issues, if necessary, to solve critical tasks in the fastest way possible. Follow our ethical business conduct guidance.
  • Optimize your own work schedule by coordinating with all the necessary partners for service planning/scheduling.
  • Partner with our commercial colleagues to deliver customer deals that can be implemented profitably and meet/exceed customer expectations.
  • Help on continuous improvement through our Practical Process Improvement Business System.

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Professional background in Electrical/Mechanical/Engineering on at least BSc or MSc level (University).
  • Minimum 1-5 years' experience servicing industrial equipment or equivalent similar specialist experience in food & pharmaceutical industries.
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills, ability to work across all levels, functions.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks with different priorities.
  • Excellent inter-personal, self-motivational and negotiating skills.
  • PC skills, having the knowledge of installing Software packages needed to do the job.
  • Eager to learn, cooperate with customers and colleagues.
  • Good hardware and software skills especially of Windows operating systems and applications as well as Microsoft Office package.
  • Curiosity about complex instruments, systems, applications, new products and technologies.

Non-Negotiable Hiring Criteria:

  • Driving License.
  • Ability to travel within France to visit customers and occasional international (within EMEA) for training and supporting other colleagues.
  • For training or special calls, international traveling including all EMEA Territory.
  • Native French and English language skills, both verbal and written.
