Responsibilities:

  • Operate, calibrate, and maintain 3D printers (DLP, FDM) and 3D scanners.
  • Prepare, modify, and troubleshoot complex CAD models for 3D printing.
  • Complete the full prototyping lifecycle, including model slicing, material selection, post-processing, part analysis, and documentation.
  • Collaborate with engineers and designers to translate concepts into tangible prototypes.
  • Perform quality control to ensure accuracy and precision of printed parts, including highly tolerance applications.
  • Maintain and coordinate the lab environment.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues with equipment.
  • Uphold quality and safety standards in all work.

Requirements: Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in engineering or industrial design required.

Experience:

3+ years of hands-on experience with automated technologies, including machinery, instrumentation, and software in a scientific or manufacturing role.

Proficient using CAD software such as SolidWorks.

Experience crafting detailed models or art.

Preferred Experience

Experience in life sciences, biomanufacturing, biotechnology, R&D, or clinical markets.

End-to-end prototyping experience using DLP/SLA printing workflows

Experience with 3D scanning and point cloud data processing.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Proficient in operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting mechanical & optical machines.
  • Strong computer skills and ability to master new software workflows.
  • Hands-on approach to testing and implementing new technical skills.
  • High attention to quality and detail.
  • Strong spatial reasoning, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and take ownership of tasks.
  • Strong analytical skills to define and bring to bear key variables in processes.
  • Basic/intermediate communication skills in English, both written and verbal. Advanced is a plus.
  • Capable of applying design constraints into actionable prototyping steps.
  • Comfortable with iterative development and process improvement.
  • Ability to take direction and critical feedback.
  • General knowledge of chemicals, materials, 3D printing technologies, and injection molding.
  • Intermediate CAD modeling skills with ability to handle and process delicate models using various tools, machines and chemicals.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to optimize models for additive manufacturing.
  • Deep understanding of CAD design, slicing software, and 3D printing processes (DLP/SLA).
  • Experience with design thinking processes to translate goals into prototypes.
  • Precision measurement and QA/QC experience.
  • Familiarity with molecular biology industry and workflows.
  • Passion for design and fabrication.
  • Familiarity with digital file preparation tools, slicer software, and gcode.
  • Knowledge of photopolymers and thermoplastics.
