About the Internship
The World Trade Center Department is looking for an Operations intern to join their team. The Operations Unit provides exposure to day-to-day work environment in managing the 16-acre WTC campus. This internship will be an interactive experience that will expose the candidate to program management, contract management, and real-world code compliance/life safety operations.
The World Trade Center (WTC) is a mixed-use campus owned and operated by the PANYNJ. The 16-acre campus is home to the Oculus/Transportation Hub along with dozens of retailers, One World Trade Center, 3 World Trade Center, 4 World Trade Center, 7 World Trade Center, the 9/11 Memorial & Museum, Liberty Park, Saint Nicholas National Shrine, Ronald O. Perelman Performing Arts Center, and the future 2 World Trade Center and 5 World Trade Center. The WTC Department operates and maintains all public space and infrastructure at the campus, while working closely with our stakeholders, tenants, and business partners, who run commercial and institutional portions of the camps. This role involves facilities / property management.

Responsibilities
- Project management of various ongoing operational projects on campus.
- Track preventive and corrective maintenance activities of assets utilizing the asset management system Maximo.
- Update facility standard operating procedures to ensure unified business continuity.
- Work with on-site team in observing and conducting inspections including, but not limited to, fire protection and vertical transportation.
- Review inspection reports of systems such as vertical transportation, fire life safety and others.
- Assist Program Manager with creating training plan and training tracker for Emergency Management related courses, create a user friendly, agency compliant, digital standard operating procedures document for the Operation Control Center/Emergency Operations Center and review and revise emergency relocation plans with a final exercise as a project.
- Work with on-site personnel to observe the incident command, incident response, and documentation process, as well as review examples of previous incidents for educational purposes. This will be conducted via Operations Control Center and Fire Inspection Team field time.
- Work in close collaboration and oversite of the Program Manager to manage a recently created central point program for critical inspection data that includes fire inspection, vertical transportation inspection and structural inspection findings.
Minimum Qualifications
- Enrollment at a college/university through Summer 2025 and into the Fall 2025 semester
- Major in Mechanical Engineering
- Rising junior or senior
- Experience with Microsoft apps such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, etc.

- Good at problem solving and critical thinking.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Interest in contributing to the success of the New York and New Jersey region
- Interest in public service and/or transportation.
Internship Details
- The start date will be Thursday, May 29, 2025
- The internship will last approximately 12 weeks, ending on Friday, August 22, 2025
- This is a full-time internship (5 days per week at 7.25 hours per day)
- The format is expected to be in-person

Compensation & Benefits
- The hourly rate range is $17.63 to $29.57 (the exact rate will be determined by internship type and rising school year)
