About the Internship

The Aviation department is looking for a summer intern to join the Customer Experience (CX) unit. The CX unit is responsible for developing the department's customer experience strategy, standards, and programs for our airports, measuring performance on CX metrics, and ensuring a high standard of service delivery across our airports. The CX unit serves as a content expert on CX trends and best practices, manages customer survey and data collection programs, and coordinates with stakeholders across the airport system to ensure that CX strategy is integrated in project designs and operational plans. The summer intern will contribute to the Aviation CX unit in conducting market research and data analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a survey focused on the arriving passenger experience, including finalizing the survey questionnaire and survey collection plan
  • Conduct customer-facing surveys at airports
  • Coordinate with other interns and Port Authority staff to assist in conducting surveys
  • Validate and analyze data collected
  • Summarize results and findings

Minimum Qualifications

  • Enrollment at a college/university through Summer 2025 and into the Fall 2025 semester
  • While this internship is based at 4 World Trade Center, it will also require traveling to Port Authority airports as needed.
  • Ability to perform some work outside of standard business hours. (i.e. evenings or weekends).
  • Comfortable interacting with customers.

Desired Qualifications

  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to engage directly with customers in a friendly and professional manner
  • Interest in data collection, management, and visualization
  • Experience in basic quantitative analysis, including proficient use of Microsoft Excel
  • Self-starter with strong organizational and writing skills

Internship Details

  • The start date will be Thursday, May 29, 2025
  • The internship will last approximately 12 weeks, ending on Friday, August 22, 2025
  • This is a full-time internship (5 days per week at 7.25 hours per day)
  • The format is expected to be hybrid, partially in-person and partially virtual

Selection Process

Compensation & Benefits

  • The hourly rate range is $18.07 to $27.21 (the exact rate will be determined by internship type and rising school year)
