The Audit Department is looking for an intern to join their team!

About the Audit Department:

The Audit Department evaluates and improves the Port Authority's internal controls and risk management. Audit also provides internal auditing services for the Port Authority, including reviews of business processes, systems, and operations, and examines records of tenants and contractors doing business with the Port Authority.

Responsibilities:

  • Participate in the planning of audits and reviews of various Port Authority functions, operations, and business processes including reviews of private sector partners doing business with the Port Authority.
    • Reviews will include developing the audit scope and audit program, executing the audit work, including gathering and analysis of required data and information and attend site visits.
  • Prepare work papers and draft reports summarizing results of the audit, recommendations for improvement and communicating results to the executive team and managers.

Qualifications:

  • Enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate program through the 2024-2025 academic year
  • Experience with Microsoft apps such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, etc.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Interest in contributing to the success of the New York and New Jersey region
  • Interest in public service and/or transportation
  • Willingness to learn

Desired:

  • Two or more years of college education
  • Major in Audit, Accounting, Business, Finance, Management, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related discipline
  • Ability to meet deadlines, work independently or within a team, and prioritize work
  • Strong interpersonal skills

Internship Details:

  • The start date will be determined at the time of an offer
  • The end date will be determined after the internship starts
  • This internship will not exceed 30 hours per week
  • The format is expected to be a hybrid, partially virtual and partially in-person at Journal Square Transportation Center in Jersey City, NJ
