The Digital Modernization Sector at Leidos currently has an opening for a Strategic Communications Intern. A successful candidate will provide internal and external communications support for the Navy Service Management, Integration and Transport (SMIT) program, the largest IT services program for the Navy. Under the SMIT contract, the Leidos is delivering the core IT management and support of the Navy Marine Corps Intranet (NMCI), Marine Corps Enterprise Network (MCEN) and the OCONUS Enterprise Network (ONE-Net), including cybersecurity services, network operations, service desk, and data transport. The program team delivers IT services to more than 650,000 Sailors, Marines and civilian professionals at more than 1,200 sites globally.

Under the direction of the Director of SMIT Strategic Communications, this intern will help bring information to life through thoughtful and creative storytelling, such as articles, case studies and fact sheets. The intern will also support the program's intranet presence, working across the team to elevate and highlight the technology solutions and delivery successes. A successful candidate will also assist in other client communications and marketing activities related to the program. This position is able to be performed virtually.

We are looking for an intern that is available part-time (12 - 29 hours per week) during the fall/spring semesters and full-time (40 hours per week) during summer 2025.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Works with the communications director create communications material for multiple audiences through all forms online and offline.
  • Gathers and synthesizes information to create dynamic content
  • Supports the program's social media and digital content strategies

Basic Qualifications

  • Working toward a bachelor's degree (preferably in Communications and/or Marketing) with graduation after August 2025
  • Possession of excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Some experience with Microsoft Office tools/programs, especially Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Creativity and comfort utilizing technology for communications including digital and video communication.
  • Self-starter with ability to anticipate needs and next steps without prompting.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience planning events and activities

Pay Range:

Pay Range $38,350.00 - $69,325.00

The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
