This role's primary function is to support the Voluntary Account Executives (VAE) within an assigned territory (East, Central and West) and act as the primary resource that manages the overall pre-sale process for Group Benefits Supplemental Health insurance products for new business 500+ lives.
New Business Pre-Sale Support:
- Support Voluntary Account Executive in the presale submission process for new business RFP's 500+ lives.
- Accountable for overseeing timeline from RFP receipt to RFP delivery.
- Monitor RFP activity, prioritize opportunities for VAE and Underwriting.
- Responsible for high level RFP review, confirmation of plan information with broker on as needed basis, working with internal team to route RFP information to appropriate internal cross-functional teams for completion. Interface with VAE/Broker/Underwriter for questions or clarifications needed from initial data provided.
- Works with VAE to highlight plans for rating by Underwriting team.
- Engages with cross-functional partners to ensure all RFP requested items are responded to, proposal review, RFP Questionnaire completion and any gathering other needed items/sample documents.
- Works with Underwriting team to ensure RFP templates and rate grids are completed upon Broker request.
- May assist with pricing on behalf of Voluntary Account Executive (discretion of office & capacity).
- Assist with proposal review, including accuracy for RFP delivery.
- Delivery of proposal responses and declinations (discretion of office & capacity).
- Works with Underwriting team on rerate requests (as needed).
- Partner with Voluntary Account Executive to ensure newly sold business is accurate and updated for customer sign-off.

Other Key Activities:
- Support VAE when out of office to ensure that opportunities continue to move through underwriting process.
- Back-up other VSC teammates as needed.
- Offer other sales support functions like contract comparisons, finalist meeting assistance, attend broker meetings etc.
- Partnership with local market team including Regional Account Executive, Underwriting, Quote Specialist, Pre-Sale, and additional internal Hartford partners.
- Manage office support services including but not limited to:
- Attends and participates in all mandatory training, meetings, etc.;
- As appropriate route incoming inquiries to appropriate internal partners;
- Project support as needed.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 2 years of Group Benefits experience.
- Strong understanding of Group Benefits products and services with special attention to Voluntary Benefits/Supplemental Health benefit plans preferred.
- College degree preferred or equivalent experience with financial ratings preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with strong Word, Excel and PowerPoint skills and Salesforce knowledge.
- Able to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented and able to manage multiple priorities at once.
- Ability to build rapport and develop/maintain strong relationships with internal/external partners
- Critical thinking to proactively identify and anticipate needs.
- Quick learner. Solves problems by gathering and using different sources of information.
This role is eligible for a Hybrid or Remote work arrangement. Candidates who live near our office locations will have the expectation of working in an office three days a week (Tuesday through Thursday). Candidates who do not live near an office will have a remote work arrangement, with the expectation of coming into an office as business needs arise.

Compensation
The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:
$63,200 - $94,800
