This role can have a Hybrid or Remote work arrangement. Candidates who live near one of our office locations will have the expectation of working in an office 3 days a week (Tuesday through Thursday). Candidates who do not live near an office will have a remote work arrangement, with the expectation of coming into an office as business needs arise.
Employee Benefits Operations is seeking a Director to lead the Operational Efficiency team. The Director will be an initiative-taking analytical person with a working knowledge of Employee Benefits Operations and will bring the leadership skills and experience to provide direction and oversight to a team of 8 employees. This individual will establish and maintain effective relationships within Employee Benefits Customer Services, as well as the Learning, Instructional Design, Content Curation teams and beyond. As a member of this team, in partnership with their direct reports, peers and cross-functional partners, this person will be responsible for improving the Customer, Employer, and Employee experience through project engagement, ongoing maintenance needs and initiative support.

The role is responsible for identifying and prioritizing opportunities to optimize business processes and actively participate in the delivery of projects across the organization.
Responsibilities:
- Managing and leading a team of individuals who support the Employee Benefits Customer Services organization while performing various accountabilities related to their subject matter expertise aligned with functional areas in the organization. Work includes:
- Standard methods management
- System/application support
- UAT, HR Tech strategy support, project engagement and more
- Best Practice management and support
- Support projects and initiatives (including invest initiatives) across GB Operations including validating business requirements, determine/validate potential impacts to staffing, and communicate project status (including UAT)
- Collaborate cohesively with partner organizations and leaders to accomplish strategic and department goals
- Suggests process improvements and coordinate the implementation of those improvements within the team and collaborating with partner organizations
- Develop and implements a root cause analysis process to understand process inefficiencies; Monitors impact of deployed process changes to validate solution effectiveness
- Pursue learning in Gen AI and identify opportunities to leverage across Operations
- Assists with the communication and documentation of process changes to impacted teams within GB Operations
- Bring simplicity and efficiency to the complex tasks within GB Operations
- Support Employee Benefits Operations leadership team with other initiatives as needed
Qualifications:
- Operations (Insurance) and Employee Benefits knowledge required.
- Minimum of 5 years of leadership experience required, preferably managing high complex and visible teams.
- Proficiency in MS Office required; experience with Copilot or similar AI preferred.
- Excellent project management and organizational skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
- Strong oral and written communication skills; ability to effectively influence others, vertically and horizontally.
- Understands end to end performance of critical Employee benefits Operations processes and sub-processes.
- Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently, and to set priorities and plans to meet business goals and objectives.
- History of creating innovative solutions; passion for delivering outcomes.
- Strong collaborator, collaborative, and effective relationship building competencies.
- Ability to interact effectively at all levels of the organization and across multiple business areas.

Compensation
The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:
$115,760 - $173,640
