The Regional Director/Managing Director will lead a team of experienced Construction field underwriters in the Western Region. This role involves sales and underwriting leadership, strategy development, and execution. The main goal is to drive profitable business for The Hartford by managing financial performance, building strong relationships with agents and brokers, and developing a high-performing team.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage and expand a team of Construction underwriters.
  • Build strategic partnerships with key agents, brokers, and clients.
  • Implement sales plans and monitor team performance.
  • Develop and execute a talent strategy to attract and retain high-caliber talent.
  • Ensure compliance with underwriting practices and guidelines.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to improve offerings and drive brand awareness.

Qualifications:

  • Strong background in P&C with experience in Construction loss sensitive and/or guaranteed cost business.
  • 7+ years of underwriting and agency/territorial experience.
  • Leadership capabilities and experience managing teams.
  • Ability to travel regularly within the assigned region.
  • BS/BA degree preferred; advanced degree or relevant industry designation is a plus.

Location:

This role will have a Hybrid work arrangement, with the expectation of working in the Walnut Creek, CA or San Francisco, CA office three days a week (Tuesday through Thursday).

Compensation

The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:

$132,080 - $216,000

The posted salary range reflects our ability to hire at different position titles and levels depending on background and experience.
