The Hartford is seeking a motivated and experienced Executive Staff Assistant to join their administrative team for the Office of the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. The Executive Staff Assistant will independently provide advanced, diversified, and confidential executive administrative support requiring broad experience, skills, high emotional intelligence and knowledge of organization operations, policies and practices. The Executive Staff Assistant will have expert communication skills, judgement, and discretion and will make an impact that helps us deliver impeccable results for our internal and external shareholders. This role reports directly to the Director, CEO Operations and is based in our Hartford, CT Home office, five days a week.

Responsibilities:

  • Partnering closely with the Director, CEO Operations: Organize complex calendars and schedules; manage meeting set-up including invitations, room reservations, technology, meeting materials, and other related items; effectively manage prioritization and use decision-making skills to resolve potential schedule conflicts
  • Prepare information (read, collect, analyze data in advance) utilizing the appropriate format to be used in presentations and leadership meetings
  • Assist in maintaining distribution lists, organizational charts and other team related documents
  • Use discretion, confidentiality, and sound judgment to handle C-Level matters
  • Build great partnerships with stakeholders including the Senior Leadership Team and the administrative assistant community
  • Coordinate office supply ordering and equipment requests
  • Expense processing for CEO and Director of CEO Operations and review/approvals for CEO's direct reports
  • Proactively anticipate needs and manage situations appropriately
  • Assist in managing or providing support for special projects and/or initiatives
  • Provide support for Board of Directors meetings with regards to travel and logistics

Skills & Qualifications:

Minimum of 7 or more years of experience successfully supporting a C-Level executive in a large corporate environment; experience in a financial service settings a plus. This experience would include the demonstrated ability with the following skills and experience:

  • Ability to effectively support multiple competing priorities and end-to-end planning for timely delivery of key deliverables to client, ELT, and/or the board of directors. Strong organizational skills that reflect ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks seamlessly with excellent attention to detail, data integrity, and accuracy
  • Providing complex administrative support in a high-visibility environment with tact and diplomacy; able to work effectively with all levels of stakeholders inside and outside of The Hartford
  • Expert level written and verbal communication skills; proofreading and excellent grammar skills
  • Highly resourceful team-player; able to be effective working independently; demonstrated proactive approach to problem-solving with strong decision-making capability, excellent judgment
  • Emotionally mature and proven high level of discretion; experience working with sensitive and confidential topics
  • Self-starter and forward thinker who actively seeks opportunities and is solution-oriented; intellectually curious and engaged; interested in understanding the business and willing and able to learn about it
  • Demonstrated ability to achieve high performance goals and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Able to maintain composure and high degree of professionalism at all times
    Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
  • Able and willing to travel as needed (~10% of the time); and to work flexible hours as dictated by the needs of business for projects and meetings, as well as to be responsive off hours as business needs require

Compensation

The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:

$124,320 - $186,480
