This position is for an Environmental Assistant Underwriter within the International Casualty division in London.
The role will have both personal and collective responsibility for supporting the growth and profitability of the Environmental portfolio. This position involves the underwriting of new and renewal business, in line with appetite, as well as developing and maintaining relationships with Brokers.

Job Responsibilities & Competence
- Underwrite new and renewal accounts in accordance with planned underwriting appetite, through proactive account review, analysis of underwriting trends and improvement plans, to maintain profitability.
- Negotiate account participation, pricing, and negotiate terms and conditions including policy coverage with brokers.
- Underwrite in line with the Environmental underwriting framework - e.g. Underwriting Authorities, Raters, Underwriting Guidelines, Rules and Principles.
- Present underwriting rationale and evaluation where specific accounts fall outside of underwriting authority.
- Support development and execution of the Environmental underwriting and marketing strategies.
- Work closely with the Environmental Underwriting Manager and wider underwriting team to drive development opportunities.
- Proactively support the acquisition of new business and retention of existing business through both market and one-on-one meetings with our Insureds / potential Insureds.
- Support Environmental Underwriting Manager to perform required marketing with broker partners including structured broker presentations on Environmental appetite.
- Contribute, as required, to monthly, quarterly and annual reporting of underwriting results.
- Running and producing internal reports and figures.

Experience
- Relevant experience within the Environmental marketplace or Environmental Consulting
- Sound baseline understanding of the insurance market
