Overview of the Position

As the Director, Procurement Digital Solutions, reporting to the VP of Procurement Operations and Technology, the successful candidate will own the product vision and strategy for the company's Source to Pay solution (with Coupa as the current backbone platform) as well as the day-to-day management of the applications. Additionally, the successful candidate will manage a third-party supplier relationship providing application managed services in support of the Coupa platform.

She/he will develop and maintain a product roadmap, balancing short- and long-term goals and adjust priorities based on stakeholder needs, market needs and technology capabilities. She/he will oversee all release management activities, including requirements, design, testing and change management. This person will interact with the Chief Procurement Officer, Senior Leadership, and all other levels within SSRE, and key internal stakeholders (e.g., IT, THIP (Information Protection) and BRO (Business Resiliency Office).

This position will be in the Hartford, CT headquarters and will work a hybrid work schedule (in office Monday - Thursday).

Responsibilities:

In this role, the Director, Procurement Digital Solutions will.

  • Develop and communicate the vision and strategy for the Source to Pay technology solution, including a product roadmap balancing short term and long-term goals, adjusting priorities based on stakeholder needs, market advancements, innovation, and technology capabilities.
  • Maintain knowledge of the market to identify opportunities and inform product decisions.
  • Drive adoption and optimizing the Source to Pay technology to effectively enable business processes Serve as the central point of contact managing all aspects relating to Application Managed Services (AMS) outsourced to a third-party including incident management, work request management, enhancements, release management, change management, application monitoring, and required testing.
  • Work with Finance and Technology teams, to ensure the business roadmap is aligned to the overall Finance Technology roadmap.
  • Foster good teamwork between Procurement Operations, Strategic Sourcing, and Technology Partner, ensuring good process design and controls, with focus on ensuring that the technology meets stakeholder needs.
  • Lead activities related to release management including overseeing and executing requirements, development/configuration, test, and release process, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality product updates and enhancements.
  • Engage stakeholders including those across SSRE, Finance, IT and other teams to gather requirements, prioritize features and ensure alignment.
  • Monitor performance metrics to measure product success and drive continuous improvement.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Ensure maintaining the quality and consistency of critical and complete procurement data across the enterprise.
  • Ensure the system is audit and SOX compliant.
  • Ensure the system supports The Hartford procurement policy.
  • Deploy, manage, and enforce standards and rules for system enhancements, working in partnership with Data & Analytics team and the Operations Committee.
  • Support developing strategies to effectively process non-addressable spend.
  • Partner with the Tax team to integrate a tax solution to support proper Sales & Use tax allocations, as required.

The successful candidate will:

  • Possesses functional knowledge and skills reflective of a competent Source-to-Pay practitioner with the ability to deliver on work of highest technical complexity, while managing a team of AMS professionals and Source to Pay Administrators.
  • Can structure and drive working and informational sessions that promote collaboration, achieve synergy, and achieve desired outcomes in an agile methodology.
  • Understand application choices and have a 'big picture' perspective to support all SSREs spend categories.
  • Be responsible for end-to-end delivery of Source to pay solutions including establishing, documenting, implementing, managing and monitoring releases and ensuring program-wide compliance for normal and emergency fixes.
  • Ensure releases are delivered on time, meet expectations; and identify change management processes and all applicable stakeholders, and communicate and manage expectations through all phases of the release process.

Experience & Skills

Educational Level/Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in MIS, Business, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in enterprise, application, and/or information architecture desired.

Professional skills:

  • Direct experience managing an outsourced provider with proven track record of success.
  • Experience with service-based architecture, event-based architecture, or cloud-based computing/technologies.
  • Advanced understanding of capabilities and direction of technology, coupled with an in-depth knowledge of the technology required and the needs of business environments necessary to support assigned projects.
  • Experience with implementing cultural change at an organization level.
  • Experience and or part of team responsible for Source to pay digital solutions, Coupa or Ariba, is a plus.
  • Experience leading strategic initiatives in a highly matrixed environment.

Compensation

The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:

$133,680 - $200,520
