The position is for a Professional Liability Assistant Underwriter within the London Financial Lines team. The role will have both personal and collective responsibility for supporting the growth and profitability of the Professional Liability portfolio.

- Contribute to the underwriting of the renewal portfolio of business through proactive account review, analysis of underwriting trends and improvement plans to maintain profitability.
- Provide assistance and technical underwriting support to the PI Underwriting team
- Underwrite in line with The Hartford's framework - e.g., Underwriting Authorities, Underwriting Guidelines, Rules and Principles.
- Support development and execution of The Hartford's Professional Indemnity underwriting and marketing strategies.
- To produce and develop new business through London Market brokers and through brokers within the international market
- Running and producing internal reports and figures using Pipeline, GURU 2.0 and the International Underwriting Dashboard
- Performance monitoring of binders and line slips and analysing their progression.
- Involvement in the creation and execution of building new broker relationships
- Contribute to the identification and development of new products and new geographic territories for expansion of the PI book
- To always ensure compliance with The Hartford's best practice and Lloyd's regulations.
- To keep abreast of development of claims within the PI book and to liaise with the claims team as necessary to ensure appropriate settlement of claims.
- To contribute, as required, to the quarterly and annual reporting of Underwriting results.
Qualifications & Capabilities
- Ability to prioritise and organise workload and meeting deadlines and that of the team.
- Ability to develop and sustain relationships with internal and external customers.
- Knowledge of general insurance and its underlying principles.
- Knowledge of FCA rules and guidelines relating to commercial and/or private customers.
- Willingness to continue to develop knowledge of Insurance and related issues through form and informal learning.
Experience
- Relevant experience working in the London Insurance market, specifically within the Financial Lines area.
