About The National African American Insurance Association (NAAIA):
The National African American Insurance Association (NAAIA) was organized to create a network among minorities who are employed by insurance companies or self-employed in the insurance industry. Pooling this wealth of talent contributes to the growth of the association and its members through sharing of professional experience, knowledge, and information. Ultimately, NAAIA's goal is to increase the numbers of African American Insurance professionals in industry, overall, and in leadership and/or executive roles.

NAAIA's Annual Talent Development Competition is a venue to build relationships, network, and gain industry experience. This opportunity allows you to showcase and apply the knowledge and skills you have learned. This is an ideal venue to make connections with top industry leaders and corporate sponsors.
Case Study Focus: As part of the Student Talent Development Competition, your team is responsible for evaluating the NAAIA Case Study and conducting the analysis and research as necessary to arrive at a recommendation.
Case Study Requirements:
• Complete the assigned Case Study as provided by NAAIA National by effectively drawing upon your knowledge, resources, skills, and the expertise of The Hartford Coaches to satisfy competition requirements and to put forth a winning presentation.
• Each team will present, virtually, before a panel of judges on October 15th, 17th, & 21st for 15 minutes with an additional 5 minutes of Q&A; all team members must participate in the presentation.
Note: Details around the case study should be released in May and will be shared once The Hartford receives them.
Case Competition Opportunities and Benefits:
All Talent Development Competition participants will be engaged and/or supported as follows:
• Access to professional mentors and leadership at The Hartford
• Attend the virtual events and network with industry professionals
• The opportunity to qualify for a paid internship at The Hartford
• Defined access to The Harford Advocacy Group for the balance of 2025
• The opportunity to join and actively engage in NAAIA's Greater Hartford Chapter student membership which offers enlightening conferences, mentorships, and other career building opportunities.
Important Dates
May 2025: Welcome Event with UConn Students & The Hartford Coaches
May - October 2025: Competitor Preparation Students must be dedicated and available during this time frame to work on the talent competition case study.
October 15th, 17th or 21st 2025; NAAIA Virtual Talent Development Competition
Compensation
The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:
