As a Enrollment and Outreach Specialist at TEP, you will be a key player in fostering strong relationships between our school and the wider community.
You will be responsible for overseeing a wide range of community engagement strategies to support our educational mission. The role of Enrollment and Outreach Specialist requires a deep commitment to connecting with the community, building partnerships, community outreach, and fostering a positive environment for both staff and students. We're seeking an equity-driven individual who shares our vision of providing outstanding educational experiences to underserved communities.
Responsibilities
- Community Engagement + Student Recruitment
- Student Recruitment: Successfully meet student enrollment targets and goals, ensuring full enrollment for Kindergarten through 8th grade (~120 students per grade). Lead community outreach initiatives to attract prospective students and families through targeted outreach campaigns and events. Represent the school at student recruitment events such as school fairs and open houses, effectively communicating our educational programs and values.
- Community Engagement and Outreach: Develop and implement comprehensive community outreach strategies to connect with local families, community organizations, community partners, and stakeholders.
- Community Events: Attend and table at local community events (i.e. local fairs, parks, libraries, block parties) to increase community participation with the school.
- Partnership Development: Establish and nurture partnerships with local businesses, social services, non-profits, and community-based programs (i.e. Pre-K Centers, Headstart programs, Early Childhood Centers, YMCA, WIC programs), building relationships to create mutually beneficial opportunities for student enrichment and community involvement.
- Student Enrollment: Develop expertise in the student enrollment process in the school, and support families through the process.
- School Event Planning and Management: Plan, manage, and execute a range of school-led and community-led events (such as ceremonies, concerts, family events, and special events), designed to foster engagement and promote positive relationships.
- Strategic Marketing: Spearhead and manage varied marketing strategies and social media campaigns to enhance the school’s visibility and engagement. Develop and implement creative marketing practices (in-person, digital, print, etc.) to promote events, programs, and enrollment opportunities, leveraging various platforms and community channels to attract prospective families and enhance overall community presence.
- Operations Team Member: Serve as an on-site member of the school’s operations team, collaborating on a range of operational projects that vary in scope, in addition to having a presence in the school throughout the school day and during school-led family engagement events.
About You (Qualifications)
- Language Proficiency: Complete fluency in Spanish required, and exhibits strong communication skills and writing ability across English and Spanish.
- Experience in Community Engagement Work: Brings a minimum of 3+ years of impactful experience in community-based roles.
- Project Management Skills: Strong project management experience; displays the ability to manage strategic operations.
- Operational Excellence: Energized by the prospect of both working independently and collaboratively, while adhering to sensitive timelines and modeling excellent organizational skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, G-Suite, methodologies, and best practices.
- Passion for Equity and Inclusion: Exhibits a genuine passion for building diverse, equitable, and inclusive School Operations teams, aligning with TEP's commitment to fostering educational equity across all departments.
- Strategic Vision and Operational Agility: Creative, proactive, and solutions-oriented, showcasing enthusiasm for big-picture school operations strategy and innovation while demonstrating the ability to adeptly navigate day-to-day needs.

Note that as this role requires a strong on-site presence, TEP's Community Engagement Specialist is a fully in-person position at one of TEP's campuses in Washington Heights/Inwood.
