Overview:
The Supplier Diversity Office (SDO) is an agency within the Executive Office for Administration and Finance of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts with a mission of serving diverse and small businesses and agencies of the Commonwealth. The mission of the SDO is to serve minorities, women, veterans, service-disabled veterans, disabled, LGBT-owned, and small businesses in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, including the responsibility to certify eligible businesses. The SDO is seeking an intern to help with the day-to-day duties of the SDO's Marketing Department. This intern will help keep the SDO's social media up-to-date and will have the opportunity to draft and review different types of communications, from internal memos to items for the SDO newsletter.

Duties and Responsibilities (these duties are a general summary and not all inclusive):
• Attend internal meetings with SDO's Communications Manager and with other SDO units to learn about SDO communication needs and write brief emails, newsletter items, and social media posts that are geared towards the intended audiences.
• Plan and create social media posts for the SDO's LinkedIn and Twitter social media feeds.
• Help maintain the department's HubSpot database, adding or deleting entries when necessary.
• Other duties, as assigned by SDO's Communications Manager.
Preferred Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will:
• Be able to write clearly.
• Be familiar with social media, particularly Twitter and LinkedIn.
• Have excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication, presentation, and analytical skills and experience, especially related to demonstrating confidence and executive presence in public settings.
• Be extremely organized and highly motivated.
• Be passionate about diversity, equity, and inclusion and public service.
• Be customer-focused and have the ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds.
• Be competent with common software applications, such as Microsoft Office.
• Have a demonstrated ability to quickly pick up new technology/digital tools.
• Have the ability to work from home for the majority of time.
Schedule: 15 to 20 hours per week
Shift: Day
Hourly rate: $18 to $23 per hour
Anticipated Start Date: January 2025
End Date: June 2025
