State Library of Massachusetts
The State Library's Special Collections department is looking for a motivated, enthusiastic, and detail-oriented intern to assist the Processing Archivist Librarian with processing legislators' papers. Producing finding aids, and re-housing collections. This intern will assist with Special Collections reference, cover the Information desk and participate in tours and orientations. The State Library was established in 1826 to collect, deposit, and house the Commonwealth's collections of maps, statute books, and government documents in a single central location. Since that time, the State Library has grown into a multifaceted and reliable resource for legislators, executive personnel, state employees, historians, genealogists, and users from all over the world.

Duties:
- Under the supervision of the Processing Librarian, will assist with processing of collections as needed
- Assists with updating finding aids as needed
- Assists with reference
- Under the guidance and supervision of the Preservation Librarian, assess collection condition and perform simple preservation tasks during collection processing
- Work on special projects as assigned
Qualifications

Qualifications:

- An interest in Massachusetts government documents and history
- Familiarity with DACS
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office 365, Adobe Creative Suite, and the ability to learn other software applications independently
- Experience with scanning equipment and tools a plus
- Ability to communicate effectively in written and oral form
- Ability to work independently and juggle multiple priorities
