Job Description
The Massachusetts Veterans Home at Chelsea (MVH) is a Veterans Administration recognized State Home and provides long-term care (and Domiciliary Care - CHE) (and Adult Day Health - HLY) for veterans. The MVH is licensed by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health (DPH), Certified by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and is accredited by The Joint Commission (TJC). The MVH provides a full range of skilled nursing and ancillary services meeting the needs of our resident population.
Under the direction of the Executive Director, this role will support the strategic and tactical communication needs of the agency through development and execution of communication plans with clear priorities, proactive initiatives, strategies and talking points on key issues. The goal is creating and maintaining a favorable image of the MVH across a wide range of audiences both internal and external. In addition, the Director will provide direction and oversight to the volunteer program.

Duties & Responsibilities:
- Create internal/external communications as needed or requested for departments including press releases, social media marketing, emails, letters, newsletters, and presentations. Solicit communication approvals from MVH and the Executive Director as necessary.
- Formulate policies, procedures, and plans for the effective development and implementation of a comprehensive, agency-wide communication program and brand.
- Serve as an accessible, accurate and trusted media spokesperson, while providing advice to the Executive Director and the Executive Team on effective media priorities and engagement initiatives
- Establish relationships and synergies with internal subject matter experts, external groups, organizations, individual influencers, local communities and other stakeholders to align initiatives and messages.
- Develop and implement local/state research to collect information necessary to effectively tailor communications to public interests
- Oversee MVH volunteer program in support of MVH and Veteran needs.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Demonstrated proficiency in writing effectively, quickly, and accurately, as well as skill in ghostwriting speeches, letters, talking points and other messaging
- Expertise in social media, digital marketing, and website development and maintenance
- Impeccable copywriting and copy-editing abilities
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize multiple projects under deadlines
- Strong leadership track record
- Excellent verbal communication and presentation skills
- Familiarity with graphic design, layout, and publishing a plus
- Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, InDesign, Premiere Pro) a plus

Qualifications
MINIMUM ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS:
Applicants must have at least (A) four (4) years of full-time or, equivalent part-time, professional, professional internship, administrative, supervisory, or managerial experience in business administration, business management, public administration, public management, clinical administration or clinical management or (B) any equivalent combination of the required experience and substitutions below.
Substitutions:
I. A certificate in a relevant or related field may be substituted for one (1) year of the required experience.
II. An Associate's degree in a related field may be substituted for one (1) year of the required experience.
III. A Bachelor's degree in a related field may be substituted for two (2) years of the required experience.
IV. A Graduate degree in a related field may be substituted for three (3) years of the required experience.
V. A Doctorate degree in a related field may be substituted for the required experience.
