Senior Director, Executive Communications
Job Summary
As the architect of our Global Executive Communications Center of Excellence (COE), you will have the unique opportunity to shape and expand our Executive Communications function, driving it to new heights and ensuring it aligns seamlessly with our company's overarching goals. In this role, you will collaborate closely with senior leadership to craft communication strategies for our enterprise strategic stories, transformation programs, M&A activities, and ongoing executive requirements.
To excel in this position, you should possess a proven track record of developing, leading and executing strategic communication plans for senior executives in dynamic environments. Your success in managing communications for large, global organizations and your ability to collaborate effectively with executives, marketing, HR, and business transformation teams will be crucial.
In this role, you will design and implement a holistic communications strategy for executives, creating the processes and framework necessary for integrated communications planning between Executive Communications and the other practice areas in Corp Comms. Your expertise will support the successful execution of critical business initiatives through the powerful voice of our executive team.
Responsibilities
Vision & Strategy
- Develop a communication strategy that incorporates key executive's platforms aligning them with our corporate narratives and ensuring an outside-in and strategic lens
- Elevate our Executives' profiles, cultivating relationships with key stakeholders (media, influencers, policymakers, customers), and strengthening Equinix brand identity
- Design a programmatic approach to integrate executive voices into the Corporate Communications and business objectives to proactively target internal and external opportunities. Expand brand awareness for Equinix - in the short and long term
Driving Impact
- Further build and evolve the Exec Comms COE and team to establish a rhythm to the function that enables executives to scale the impact of their voices while growing the brand
- Bring a healthy dose of creativity, ability to "think differently" and pivot with agility to the function and team
- Foster healthy collaboration between the COE, executives, and other departments by acting as a bridge, ensuring everyone is on the same page and aligned with strategic goals
- Work with your team to craft clear, concise, and impactful messaging for executives, ensuring each executive speaks in an authentic voice that aligns with the brand voice
- Collaborate with the Corp Communications team and functional communications leads to coordinate press, customer/partner events and manage earned media opportunities
- Ensure the global applicability of strategies and tactics across the range of communication approaches and programs that drive executive engagement and meaningful connection to the company's strategy
- Work with executives to develop strategic platforms to communicate leadership's vision and plans to a global internal and external audience
- Manage content distribution and ensure consistent messaging across all channels in a consumable and targeted approach
- Lead consistent Executive Communications team meetings with functional comms teams to identify content needs and opportunities
- Collaborate with internal and external partners to ensure continuity of our Executives messaging across all platforms
- Track and analyze executive engagements to report insights and measure the effectiveness of communication strategies
- Manage relationships with external communications vendors or consultants as needed
Qualifications
- Seasoned communications professional with a successful history of overseeing impactful global communications initiatives that yield measurable outcomes
- Bringing over 15 years of communications expertise in the B2B sector, encompassing internal and executive communications
- Excels in collaborative work with senior leaders and diverse stakeholders within a complex global structure
- A strategic thinker and demonstrated specialist in execution who can swiftly engage with various stakeholders to drive results
- Upholds confidentiality, business ethics, and demonstrates exceptional judgment and discretion
- Possesses excellent communication skills across written, verbal, and presentation platforms
- Demonstrates strong attention to detail and strategic thinking, excelling in managing multiple projects concurrently in fast-paced settings
- Skilled people-manager with a leadership style that emphasizes both task execution and cultural alignment
- BA/BS degree in marketing, communications, or equivalent is a prerequisite for this role
