Who We Are:
The Department of Conversation & Recreation (DCR) is steward of one of the largest state parks systems in the country. Its 450,000 acres is made up of forests, parks, greenways, historic sites and landscapes, seashores, lakes, ponds, reservoirs, and watersheds. The DCR also oversees several swimming pools, wading pools, and spray decks.

Massachusetts was the first state in the nation to combine energy and environmental agencies under one Cabinet secretary. The Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs (EOEEA) serves Commonwealth residents interested in outdoor recreational activities, clean energy solutions and those who work with animals and livestock. Equally, EOEEA works with energy consumers, power companies, clean energy providers and farmers to delicately balance the interaction with environmental protection laws and regulations while being a cornerstone for our economic prosperity.

Job Opening:

The Department of Conservation and Recreation seeks applicants for the position of Contracted Student for the Administration Department. Please submit a cover letter and resume as part of the application process.

Position Information:

Contracted Student Internship: A & F Program Development Intern

Location: 10 Park Plaza, Boston, MA

Start/End Date: 9/30/2024 - 12/13/2024

Salary Rate: $21.00 per hour

Weekly Hours: 15 hours, part-time

Number of Openings: 1 positions

Applications will be accepted until September 30, 2024, and interviews will be conducted on a rolling basis.

Position Summary:

The candidate will work under the supervision of the Director of Administrative Services with the focus on development of diversity and employment initiatives.

Duties and Responsibilities:

The candidate will be responsible for researching and developing a database of organizations that support diverse job seekers. The candidate will also research policies and programs at state parks outside of Massachusetts to identify best practices that promote access for all at parks. Other duties to include supporting initiatives that affirm and celebrates workplace diversity, providing support for the posting of job positions, and additional employee relations duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications:

The candidate should have an interest in human resources and diversity, equity, and inclusion. The candidate should have excellent PC skills within a Windows environment and should be able to demonstrate intermediate level proficiency with Microsoft Office products including spreadsheets. Strong research and writing skills preferred.

Other Relevant Information:

The intern will report to work at the DCR Boston Headquarters office every Monday and will work remotely a second day that will be coordinated by the intern and their supervisor and/or manager.
