Job Description

The Department of Mental Health (DMH) is seeking to hire an intern who will support its Child, Youth and Families Division in Central Office Boston.

Duties and Responsibilities (these duties are a general summary and not all inclusive):

  • Assisting in summarizing data collected by the Bridge for Resilient Youth in Transition (BRYT) team from their quarterly reports. Potentially creating graphics or a 1-2 pager report of impact thus far.
  • Supporting the facilitation of DMH/BRYT monthly meetings, where we discuss program progress, sustainability, and funding challenges.
  • Conducting a comprehensive search of additional funding sources and opportunities, particularly school-based Medicaid.
  • Supporting the review of the final grant year report.
  • Creating a dissemination plan to share a version of DMH's Isaac Story with communities and schools across Massachusetts.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Coursework or experience in data analysis and summarization, including familiarity with Excel, Google Sheets, or data visualization tools
  • Strong writing and communication skills for drafting reports, summaries, and presentations
  • Interest or experience in meeting facilitation, coordination, or stakeholder engagement.
  • Basic knowledge of grant writing, funding research, or school-based Medicaid policies (preferred but not required)
  • Interest or experience in marketing, outreach, or communications, particularly in educational or nonprofit settings
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a team in a professional environment
  • Given the population served, bilingual or multilingual fluency.

Period of Service: May 27, 2025 through August 29, 2025

Additional Information:

  • Benefits are unavailable with the exception of sick leave accruals.
  • All employees will be paid on a biweekly basis and must have direct deposit.
  • The salary for this position is $19 an hour.
  • Hours: 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
  • Days Off: Saturday and Sunday

Salary placement is determined by a combination of factors, including the candidate's years of directly related experience and education, and alignment with our internal compensation structure as set forth by the Human Resources Division's Hiring Guidelines. For all bargaining unit positions (non-management), compensation is subject to the salary provisions outlined in the applicable collective bargaining agreement and will apply to placement within the appropriate salary range.
