Assistant Program Coordinator/Special Operations Training

Job Description

The Department of Fire Services (DFS) is recruiting to fill the position of Special Operations Assistant Program Coordinator responsible for training. This is a part-time, contract position with no benefits.

Duties

  • Serves in an administrative capacity to support the program coordinator and oversees the successful daily operation of assigned unit
  • Creates new training based on call trends, new technology or emerging threats
  • Actively works with technical experts to gain the knowledge needed to develop training content
  • Validates all training content with the Special Operations leadership
  • Schedules all required training for the team
  • Tracks all Special Operations members training statistics
  • Actively participates in Special Operations staff meetings
  • Recommends purchase of software or hardware to sustain the Special Operations group
  • Assists with the creation of annual operating and capital budgeting
  • May be assigned additional projects by Special Operations Program Coordinator or Deputy Director

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED)

Four years' experience as a DFS employee, a firefighter, a MA Hazardous Materials Technician, or in a fire prevention or fire service leadership position.

Specialty Requirements:

  • Must have a minimum of five years of relevant fire service or emergency service industry experience such as a dispatcher, EMT, paramedic, fire officer, fire investigator, training officer, or fire prevention position
  • Fire Instructor I trained
  • Must have thorough knowledge of Massachusetts Special Operations equipment and team operation

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge with some form of learning management software
  • Superior interpersonal skills
  • Ability to use Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point
  • Well organized and a team player
