The Boeing International Space Station (ISS) group is seeking an Experienced ISS Software Engineer to join their team in Houston, TX.

The ISS program is responsible for maintaining the on-orbit software which includes all software development, simulation, testing, and integration. In addition, the ISS software teams integrate data and maintain ground based software tools.

This exciting software engineering position will work on existing and emerging programs.

Position Responsibilities:
  • Develops, documents and maintains architectures, requirements, algorithms, interfaces and designs for software systems.
  • Develops and maintains code and integrates software components into a fully functional software system.
  • Develops test procedures and documents test results to ensure software system requirements are met.
  • Performs software and systems level verification of requirements.
  • Develops, selects, tailors and deploys software processes, tools and metrics.
  • Executes and documents software research and trade studies.
  • Troubleshoots on-orbit software issues.
  • Works under general direction.

This position allows telecommuting. The selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options.

This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a "US Person" as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. "US Person" includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

BasicQualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
  • Bachelor, Master or Doctorate degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry.
  • This position requires the ability to obtain access to a National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) facility.
  • Experience in software systems architecture and design of complex embedded software systems.
  • Experience on a team of software engineers in the development, test, and integration of embedded software.
  • 3+ years of direct experience designing and integrating software for a real time or non real-time system.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
  • Experience in Mil-Std-1553 data bus architecture
  • Bachelors degree or higher in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering.
  • Professional experience with C, C++, C#, Postgres, Python, and Java.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability and desire to work in a team environment.
  • ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
  • Able to work under general direction and interface with various users as well as customer interface.

Typical Education & Experience:
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience. In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
