Essential Job Functions:
Report upset conditions or other anomalies in plant status to the Operations Supervisor or Lead Control Room Operator. Alert Operations team of abnormal conditions at the facilities and dispatch on call technicians to the site as needed.
Maintains the plant's operating Log and other plant records in a timely and accurate manner. Approves and issues Equipment Tag-outs as required.
Perform tagout audit as directed by the Operations Supervisor. Follow established safety and operating procedures.
Receive and respond to electrical generation, transmission, and fuel dispatcher's orders and requests. Operate the plant consistent with the design limitations of the equipment as required to meet production objectives.

Operate control systems to regulate the load on the generators and other plant equipment to maintain proper operating conditions for electrical, fuel, and other plant systems as required to support desired operating levels.
Perform emergency operations to maintain electric service and safeguard station equipment.
Provide direction to O&M Technicians and Plant Technicians to effect changes in plant conditions.
Ensure proper shift turnover as required by supervisor.
Review PI data daily. Monitor and analyze operating data. Follow standard operating procedures and make appropriate notifications on abnormal engine and plant conditions.
Complete other tasks as requested by the Operations Supervisor.
Dependable, reliable and predictable attendance is required.
Must possess a valid, in-state motor vehicle operator's license at all times.
Knowledge, Skill, and Abilities:
The CRO operates from established and well-known procedures under general direction and minimum supervision. Decisions are made within prescribed operating and emergency procedures and guidelines. The CRO encounters recurring work situations of high complexity, with occasional variations from the norm.
The CRO has the authority to control the operation of the plant and must do so in a safe manner, resulting in no accidents, and in compliance with all environmental permits at all times. The CRO must effectively communicate information to supervision and fellow plant personnel, relative to the condition of the plant equipment and performance and provide suggestions for plant improvements. The CRO must perform duties in such a way to result in an optimum cost-benefit ratio.
All employees have the responsibility to both the customer and their co-workers to do the job right the first time and to ensure the customer's needs are being met.
Education and Experience:
Ability to understand procedures and instructions, specific to the area of assignment as would be acquired in four years of high school. Minimum of four years' experience as a Plant Operator or equivalent position in an operating or generating plant required. Associate's degree in a technical field desirable. Theoretical and practical knowledge of combustion, industrial safety, hazardous waste management and inspection/recording of plant parameters is highly desirable. Experience with piping and instrument schematics and process controls desirable. Extensive working knowledge of the power plant industry is desirable. Must successfully complete a plant operator's knowledge examination. Must have excellent oral and written communication skills and organizational skills.

Lifting/Pulling/Pushing: Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds and pull or push equipment or materials. Moderate over-head reaching and lifting and grasping is necessary.

Working Conditions:
Position requires extended working hours and varied shifts with weekend and holiday work, as required by schedules, work load and plant conditions. "On call" status will periodically be required.
All employees will participate in the Fitness for Duty Program. This program includes a pre-employment physical examination and drug screening, and random drug screening during employment. Extensive smoking restrictions exist in and around the facility.
