TE Connectivity's R&D/Product Development Engineering Teams conceive original ideas for new products, introduce them into practice.
They are responsible for product development, and qualification from market definition through production and release; assist in the qualification of suppliers for new products to ensure suppliers deliver quality parts, materials, and services for new or improved manufacturing processes; conduct feasibility studies, testing on new and modified designs; direct and support detailed design, testing, prototype fabrication and manufacturing ramp.

The R&D/Product Development Engineering Teams provide all required product documentation including, but not limited to, Digital Model, Performance Simulation, 2D/3D production drawings, product specifications, and testing requirements.
They create and modify detailed drawings and drafting or conceptual models from layouts, rough sketches or notes and contribute to design modifications to facilitate manufacturing operation or quality of product.
Typical fields of expertise include materials, mechanics and systems, electrical, optics, chemistry, software, automation systems, packaging, testing and measurement, and manufacturing of electrical, mechanical and electronic components, products, and their integration into systems.

What you will be doing...
As a system architect in our Appliance Business Unit, this individual will be focused on the appliance industry and will interface with customers globally in order to understand how their systems function, modularization level and determine their evolving technology needs.
The Staff System Architect is responsible for assisting in generating the high-level system architecture requirements and together with System Architecture Manager and Product Management help ensuring the TE Appliance technology and product roadmaps are in line with customer next generation products. This person is required to follow and help drive strategy for key industry standards.
A key part of the Staff System Architect's job is to interface with various team members to pull information together. Ability to communicate effectively (written and verbal) and to work with certain level of autonomy is important.

As the Staff System Architect, a typical day may include:
Interfacing with key OEM and other focus appliance customers (OEM and 1st tiers)
Identifying potential technology disrupters (which often requires expertise in and/or understanding of various technologies)
Integrating customer needs, gather industry knowledge, and business insight to create compelling trends around technology and product trends that will drive the organization forward.
Influencing executive leaders and cross-functional stakeholders to invest in new technology and products to meet the next generation needs of our customers and the market
Working within a small geographically dispersed system architecture team to share subject matter expertise and best practices.
Being an industry subject matter expert, collaborating closely with external customers as well as internal business development, product management and engineering development teams
Driving high value development projects (modularization, sensing solutions) that will require you to guide and interface with large groups
Manage the technical cooperation with customers and coordinate TE's internal development engineering team to assure technical and functional feasibility from the eyes of the customer.
Ensuring we are following required industry standards while also helping to drive the strategy for new standards

What your background should look like:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Electromechanical Engineering. Having a dual bachelor's degree in business or MBA is a plus.
  2. 10+ years' experience in domestic appliance and/or component supplier industry system design and related technologies
  3. In-depth knowledge of system architecture of Appliance such as (Washer, Dryer, Cooktops, Ranges, Ovens Refrigerator and Freezer), as well as good understanding of small appliances and other home products (lawn mowers, HVAC, BESS, etc).
  4. Technical knowledge of BT and sensor application such as temperature, force, flow rate detection.
  5. with market trends such as "connected" and/ or "Smart" Home, ambient light, advanced production processes "IoT / Cobots)" and appliance standardization requirements such as UL 250, CQC, IEC 60335-1 /2-24 /2-34 to meet safety regulations and energy saving regulations in all regions globally.
  6. Ability to clearly communicate technical concepts to diverse audiences.
  7. Effectively able to build relationships with external customers and industry leaders as well as internally across all levels, disciplines, and geographies.
  8. Ability to spend 10%-20% of your time traveling
