Job Overview

TE Connectivity's R&D/Product Development Engineering Teams conceive original ideas for new products and introduce them into practice. They are responsible for product development, and qualification from market definition through production and release; assist in the qualification of suppliers for new products to ensure suppliers deliver quality parts, materials, and services for new or improved manufacturing processes; conduct feasibility studies and testing on new and modified designs; direct and support detailed design, testing, prototype fabrication and manufacturing ramp. The R&D/Product Development Engineering Teams provide all required product documentation including, but not limited to, Solid Models, 2D/3D production drawings, product specifications, and testing requirements. They create and modify detailed drawings and drafting or conceptual models from layouts, rough sketches, or notes and contribute to design modifications to facilitate manufacturing operation and quality of product. Typical fields of expertise include materials, mechanics and systems, electrical, optics, chemistry, software, automation systems, packaging, testing and measurement, and manufacturing of electrical, mechanical, and electronic components, products, and their integration into systems

  • Provide measurable impact on operating efficiencies and organizational objectives.
  • Develop and administer schedules and performance requirements and manage department budget.
  • Assess risk and compliance within the projects of the team.
  • Manage engineers who exercise latitude and independence in their assignments.
  • Mentor engineers to both grow and nurture organizational talent.
  • Provides leadership in resolving key issues that impact the high-speed cable assembly team.
  • Work on issues of diverse scope where analysis of situation or data requires evaluation of a variety of factors, including an understanding of current business and technological trends.
  • Take a hands-on approach to determine the best course of action to meet schedules and/or resolve technical problems.
  • Ensure engineering data integrity and accuracy.
  • Adapt/make departures from traditional or standardized approaches to enhance quality or value over existing methods.
  • Frequently interact with multiple organizational levels establishing regular linkages to sales, product management, project management, and field application engineering to ensure we are capturing insights and effectively translating them into products.
  • Gain cooperation from others beyond direct reports.
  • Provide strategic leadership to foster the growth of the business.
  • Analyze and plan workforce utilization and workflow for maximum efficiency.
  • Plan and execute special projects to improve and increase function and capability.
  • Establish and utilize technical networks within TE and external to TE.
  • Interact with customers and suppliers.
  • Contribute to standards bodies for high-speed cable assembly products.

What your background should look like:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in mechanical engineering or related field
  • 12 years or more of engineering product development experience.
  • 5 years or more of engineering management experience.
  • Engineering experience in the connector and cable assembly industry preferred, especially high-speed cable assemblies and connectors.
  • Participation in the full product development cycle from establishing customer requirements to releasing qualified designs to production.
  • Knowledge in 3D CAD & CAE applications and GD&T.
  • Detailed understanding of manufacturing processes including PCB, bulk cable, stamping, molding, plating, and assembly.
  • Experience in design for manufacturability to address customer requirements including mechanical, environmental, electrical, and cost.
  • Strong interpersonal communication and knowledge of roles of the cross-functional team.
  • Deep knowledge in the area of leadership and accountability.
  • Ability to work in a global environment and availability to collaborate globally in the mornings and evenings.

COMPENSATION
• Competitive base salary commensurate with experience: $172,480 - $258,720 (subject to change dependent on physical location)
• Posted salary ranges are made in good faith. TE Connectivity reserves the right to adjust ranges depending on the experience/qualification of the selected candidate as well as internal and external equity.
• Total Compensation = Base Salary + Incentive(s) + Benefits
