What your background should look like:
• Bachelor degree or above in engineering field.
• 15+ years as product development engineering manager in connector design and manufacturing.
• Demonstrated ability and effectiveness to lead an engineering team of over 50 engineers.
• Experience to work with cross-functional team and have smooth communication and collaboration with cross functions.
• Have rich experiences of product development from concept to validation to successful mass production. Strong knowledge and experiences of managing customer technical requirements, creating and managing DFMEA and PFMEA, planning and tracking DV and PV tests.

• Experience and knowledge in engineering tools, such as CAD/CAE/CAM tools, requirement definition and tracking tools, Design of Experiment; Solid knowledge in metal and resin materials.
• Experience and knowledge in connector manufacturing processes, such as Molding, Stamping, Plating and Assembly.
• Costing planning and P&L acumen is a plus.
• Strong communication skills in both Japanese and English. Able to influence people in different culture background.

Job Overview
TE Connectivity's R&D/Product Development Engineering Teams conceive original ideas for new products, introduce them into practice. They are responsible for product development, and qualification from market definition through production and release; assist in the qualification of suppliers for new products to ensure suppliers deliver quality parts, materials, and services for new or improved manufacturing processes; conduct feasibility studies, testing on new and modified designs; direct and support detailed design, testing, prototype fabrication and manufacturing ramp. The R&D/Product Development Engineering Teams provide all required product documentation including, but not limited to, Solid Model, 2D/3D production drawings, product specifications, and testing requirements. They create and modify detailed drawings and drafting or conceptual models from layouts, rough sketches or notes and contribute to design modifications to facilitate manufacturing operation or quality of product. Typical fields of expertise include: materials, mechanics and systems, electrical, optics, chemistry, software, automation systems, packaging, testing and measurement, and manufacturing of electrical, mechanical and electronic components, products, and their integration into systems.
RESPONSIBILITY:
This position is responsible for leading the Product Development Engineering team to develop products for Signal & Power applications, E-mobility applications and Data Connectivity applications, with an active, challenging and result-oriented mindset.
The primary responsibilities include:
• Developing functional plans, including business, production, operational and/or organizational priorities;
• Controlling resource allocation and overseeing policy formation for product engineering;
• Accounting for the performance and results of the product development engineering organization; mentoring and growing PDE team members;
• Providing expertise in resolving key, complex issues related to the product engineering function;
• Success requires rich experience on connector design and manufacturing, strong leadership, excellent communication, project management skills, and capabilities to drive and motivate team members.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES:
to work closely with Sales and Product Management team in setting up the product strategies and product roadmap;
to work together with Manufacturing Development Engineering team to set up Technical Roadmap;
to work together with Project Management Engineering and Quality Engineering team to ensure the project on-time, on-cost and on-quality delivery;
to bring the team positive changes include but not limited to mindset change, efficiency improvement, technical transfer from veteran to young generation, process improvement, team engagement improvement, etc.
Strong execution capabilities to convert the strategies into actions and deliver results;
Maintain good relationship and smooth collaboration between engineering team and cross-functional teams;
Perform continuous benchmarking activities of competitor products/technologies and connects with TE product development and process improvement.
Coach younger engineers and build talent pipelines for managerial and expert ladders.
