Job Description:

We are looking for a Senior Manager to join TD's Capital Risk & Governance team. This role will be part of a specialized team of capital risk professionals providing independent risk management oversight of the US Capital Management team and is responsible for ensuring that all significant capital risks are thoroughly understood, analyzed, and measured against the bank's risk appetite. As a thought leader, you will collaborate with other teams across the bank to drive risk-related activities forward.

Key Accountabilities

  • Maintain a culture of risk management and control, supported by effective processes in alignment with the established risk appetite for Capital Risk.
  • Develop a thorough understanding of the US bank's capital strategies, risks, and drivers.
  • Provide oversight of US Capital Management, including independent reviews capital position reporting, stress testing results (including DFAST), baseline forecasting, limit calibration, and capital actions.
  • Lead development of the Independent Capital Evaluation including review of processes, procedures, and controls to ensure that the business, control, and infrastructure functions are meeting the organization's effective risk management requirements.
  • Ensure the compliance of capital risk management processes with US regulations, understanding that regulatory compliance alone is not sufficient and that capabilities should be commensurate with the size, scale, and complexity of the bank.
  • Liaise closely with other business partners including Treasury, Balance Sheet Management, Front Office, other second-line of defense risk partners, and Internal Audit.
  • Deliver Capital Risk input into US CRO and Board Risk Committee materials.
  • Facilitate, and/or implement actions and remediation plans to address performance, risk, and governance issues.
  • Stay informed of emerging issues, trends, and evolving regulatory requirements and assess potential impacts.
  • Identify potential vulnerabilities and recommend risk mitigation strategies to senior management.

Requirements

  • 4 year degree required
  • Advanced degree preferred
  • 7-10 years of experience
  • Familiarity with capital planning and stress testing regulations
  • Demonstrated strong conceptual and analytical abilities
  • Strong internal control orientation
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills, communication skills (both written and verbal), and interpersonal skills
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to meet tight deadlines

The Director Risk TDS is primarily accountable for providing a comprehensive and diverse range of risk management expertise to business leaders and implementing appropriate risk frameworks and leading related management activities to mitigate enterprise or business wide risk exposures for key business segment of the Bank or functional area

Depth & Scope:

  • Generally an expert at the enterprise or group business level, requiring broad managerial and deep specialized knowledge of risk management issues at the enterprise, business, regulatory and industry levels
  • Acts as the primary regulatory interface on risk issues and requirements for a key business segment of the Bank and assesses and provides direction for existing and new regulations
  • Manages or oversees a number of major risk area requirements such as Credit, Operational, Regulatory and/or Market Risk or related programs that are enterprise-wide or cross multiple business segments (e.g. Basel credit project, SOX, Stress Testing etc.)
  • Represents business on corporate initiatives and identifies key risks and implications and provides direction in complex situations
  • Works with various regulators, business / corporate and pan-wide business support groups to deal with regulatory and cross-business level issues

Education & Experience:

  • Undergraduate degree in Business (Accounting or Finance) or Mathematics/Economics.
  • Series 7, 79 and 63
  • 7-10 years related experience
