Job Description:

Reporting to the Regional Wealth Planning Manager, the Wealth Planning Support Specialist is responsible for partnering with TDW advisors, primarily in the province of Quebec, with delivering high value customized guidance and recommendations on retirement, tax, estate and overall wealth planning to high net worth (HNW) clients of TDW. Specifically, the Wealth Planning Support Specialist has accountability for:

  • Providing professional financial, tax, estate and risk management planning support and solutions to qualifying HNW clients of TDW;
  • Assisting TDW advisors and relationship managers with creating and updating financial plans, opportunity spotting, and revenue generation; and
  • Executing TDW's HNW strategy.

The Wealth Planning Support Specialist is an experienced practitioner whose expertise is leveraged by partners in TDW. He/she/they will support the Quebec region in driving the strategic vision of delivering wealth planning to TDW's clients.

Key Responsibilities:

The Wealth Planning Support specialist provides delivery of TD Wealth Planning Support and Plan Oversight in the following manner:

  • Preparing customized wealth plans for TDW's HNW clients based on information obtained directly from their TDW advisor in English or French.
  • Carrying out independent research to ensure client's key issues (retirement, tax, philanthropic and estate planning) are addressed in English and French.
  • Keeping informed of relevant wealth planning (retirement, tax, estate planning, etc.) developments and keeping TDW partners informed of developments in English and French.
  • Proactively spotting opportunities for complimentary businesses and solutions.
  • Working effectively to develop and maintain relationships with TDW advisors and Branch Managers.
  • Delivering wealth planning presentations to TDW advisors in English and French.
  • Developing strong internal networks and referral sources.
  • Ensuring appropriate service levels are provided to maximize role profitability, minimize costs, and manage business to avoid financial losses and reputational damage to TDBFG.
  • Carry out other tasks and duties as assigned by manager from time to time.
  • Providing general wealth planning advice and guidance (tax, estate planning, retirement) as well as the use of wealth planning tools and process
  • Supporting advisors dealing with mass affluent and HNW clients through email and phone
  • Providing wealth planning subject matter expertise for building and presenting wealth plans
  • Conducting Plan reviews to ensure adherence to Wealth Planning Standards and provide feedback for advisor development
  • Delivering live coaching sessions to advisors and their leader providing feedback and expertise on their wealth plans
  • Developing training and support material to help elevate the wealth planning acumen of TD Wealth advisors
  • Engaging with advisors to coach them on plan quality with a focus on delivering quality, value add, holistic wealth plans to clients
  • Delivery of Plan Oversight with a focus on regulatory compliance, the client experience, and advisor productivity

Qualifications/Skills/Experience:

  • Bilingual - Must be fluent in French
  • Undergraduate degree
  • IQPF Financial planning designation in good standing (Pl. Fin.)
  • A minimum 5 years of wealth planning experience gained through client contact or in a technical advisory support role to advisors, coupled with investment industry knowledge
  • Understanding/knowledge of Canadian and Quebec provincial specific taxation for individuals and corporations
  • Knowledge of and experience working with advanced financial planning issues
  • Must possess a passion for financial, tax, and estate planning and have a good understanding of how advisors work with clients
  • Professional writing experience
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Word and PowerPoint
  • Designations such as CPA, CA, LL.B, TEP are an asset
  • Training and facilitation experience is an asset
  • Experience engaging with clients or advisors using screen share technology would be an asset
