Employee Relations and Compliance, Senior Manager

The Employee Relations and Compliance Senior Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of employee relations and ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations. This position will develop and implement policies, procedures, and programs to foster a positive work environment and promote employee engagement while mitigating risks and maintaining legal compliance.

This is a remote opportunity; however, you must reside in a state in which we have a division and operate out of.

What You'll Do

  • Develop, implement, and maintain employee relations policies and procedures to ensure consistency and compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Investigate and resolve complex employee relations issues, including discrimination, harassment, and retaliation complaints, in a timely and effective manner. This includes resolution of all employee complaints generated through the Ethics hotline and various employee surveys.
  • Provide guidance and support to the designated People Operations manager, leaders, and employees on employee relations matters, including performance management, disciplinary actions, and conflict resolution.
  • Collaborate with People Services, legal, and management to provide guidance and recommendations on employee relations matters and compliance issues.
  • Stay abreast of all federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and ensure the company handbook is kept updated.
  • Conduct thorough audits and risk assessments to identify compliance gaps and develop strategies to address and mitigate risks.
  • Serve as a liaison between the company and outside legal counsel and government agencies, such as the EEOC and the Department of Labor, in the event of investigations, audits or subpoenas.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation of employee relations investigations, actions taken, and compliance efforts.
  • Ensure compliance with the Conflict-of-Interest policy by reviewing all COI forms.
  • Stay current with changes in employment laws and regulations and provide updates to senior management and other stakeholders as needed.
  • Maintain discretion, confidentiality and security of all employee and proprietary company information, while always operating in an unbiased, high integrity, respectful manner that builds trust at all levels and demonstrates a sensitivity for cultural differences.
  • Leverage business, industry, current employee relations trends and rulings and internal metrics data to anticipate and prepare for potential employee relations problems and escalate issues to management in a timely manner.
  • Creation of KPIs (Key proactive, positive employee relation training and interventions).

You might be just who we're looking for if you have

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in employee relations and compliance
  • In-depth knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, including FMLA, ADA, FLSA, and EEO.
  • Proven track record of successfully investigating and resolving complex employee relations issues.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
  • Previous legal experience preferred.

Will have responsibilities such as:

  • Office or non-manual work, which is directly related to management or general business operations
  • Act as a primary component of which involves the exercise of independent judgment and discretion about matters of significance

Essential Functions:

  • Report to Division/Corporate Office/Community daily and adhere to schedule
  • Ability to oversee direct reports daily and provide guidance as needed
  • Ability to access, input, and retrieve information from a computer and/or electronic device
  • Ability to have face to face conversations with customers, co-workers and higher level manager
  • Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time and move around work environment as needed
  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle
  • Comply with company policies and procedure

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to able to remain in a stationary position up to 50% of the time
  • The ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds

Compensation

FLSA Status: Exempt

Salary Range: $100,000-$145,000

Bonus Eligible:20% Annual Incentive Plan (AIP)
