The People Analytics team:
  • Integrates into the business as strategic HR analytics partners and anticipates and uncovers stated or unstated needs.
  • Uses our analytics expertise to test, measure, analyze, understand and answer various business questions
  • Provide reporting to help inform on the current state of the business and help facilitate process at scale
  • Connects our understanding across business and HR to deliver data driven products and solutions
  • Provide meaningful insights and recommendations
About the Role: Our Lead Data Analyst in People Analytics will explore data, leverage technologies, and apply advanced analytical techniques to deliver actionable business insights. This role emphasizes visualization and data storytelling, enabling leaders to make decisions informed by clear, compelling analytics. The analyst will focus on transforming complex data into digestible, actionable insights through dashboards and reporting, guiding stakeholders to turn insights into impactful actions.

This role operates within an agile environment and requires deep expertise in working with data from understanding, cleansing and quality, to movement and transformation. The analyst will also develop deep domain knowledge in Human Resources, People Analytics and how insights about team can drive business results.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Actively explore HR and talent-related data to deliver insights aligned with business objectives.
  • Consult with stakeholders to define key KPIs and measurement strategies.
  • Design and develop intuitive dashboards and visualizations using tools like Power BI or Tableau.
  • Enable storytelling with data to clarify insights and drive actionable decision-making.
  • Document calculations, maintain data quality, and adhere to best practices in data management.
  • Validate, test, and peer-review data assets for accuracy and reliability.
  • Apply descriptive and inferential statistical techniques to enhance data insights.
  • Mentor team members on analytical methods and the business domain to elevate team capabilities.
  • Lead agile ceremonies and collaborate actively within an agile framework.
  • Serve as a thought leader in People Analytics, advocating for innovative approaches to solve complex problems.
About You:
  • Education & Experience:
    • BA/BS in Data Analytics, Business Analytics, or a related field (Master's preferred).
    • 7+ years of work experience in data analysis, with a strong focus on visualization and data storytelling.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Proficiency in BI tools such as Power BI or Tableau.
    • Advanced skills in SQL, R, and/or Python for data preparation and analysis.
    • Experience with relational and non-relational databases.
  • Domain Expertise:
    • Strong understanding of Human Resources and People Analytics data and processes.
    • Prior experience developing insights in the HR or talent/people analytics domain.
  • Analytical Expertise:
    • Analytical and statistical knowledge to evaluate impact of our products on the organization (e.g., descriptive statistics, correlation, variance analysis, significance testing)
  • Personal Attributes:
    • Passion for delivering impactful, actionable insights through data visualization.
    • Adept at simplifying complex data for diverse audiences.
    • Commitment to continuous learning and staying current with evolving technologies.
    • Strong communication and storytelling skills, with the ability to consult on strategic decisions.
Hybrid/Flex for Your Day work arrangement:
  • This position will operate as a Hybrid/Flex for Your Day work arrangement based on Target's needs. A Hybrid/Flex for Your Day work arrangement means the team member's core role will need to be performed both onsite at the Target HQ MN location the role is assigned to and virtually, depending upon what your role, team and tasks require for that day.
